Survivor® Tapping Into Racial Tension

Categorized under El Malestar Pálido , Humor | Tags:

First of all, no, I don't think it's a good idea to pit races against each other on the Survivor® show. It just seems like a really sleazy way to get viewers, tapping into a clearly touchy nerve. In today's climate especially, I can only see it leading to an even greater tension amongest Whites and non-Whites than already exists in America. Especially when all the gringos end up resorting to lavishing smallpox on the rest of the tribes. OH snap, you're ready to fire off a nasty email but I'm only riffing on RUSH LIMBAUGH'S joke!

I guess Rush's self-deprecating humor is the only funny part of his slapping all kinds of stereotypes and third-grade reasoning skills on which "tribe" will do better. It's one thing when you put down your own group. But all these ideas about who can swim and who has the tastiest salsa? My heavens, fan me.

Mostly, it's a window into his views on different ethnicities...and I have to say, for a man of so much bluster, he really doesn't have much thought put into this. But what do you expect? Isn't that what racism is? Shortcuts to Understanding, when you're scared of taking the long way home?
