Speaking Ill of the Family

Um. I know this is one of the "good guys." I don't mean to knock his ad. But I need another ear here.

Does Ford actually say "I won't speak ill of my family" in this new video, which responds to the recent racist video put out against him? (Someone—sorry I can't remember—did a good short writeup that talks about how that blonde white stripper part jumps out as a personal smear in a number of "man on the street" type clips. In addition, isn't the hunter's dark face paint oh-such-a-subtle touch? And the text at the end that reminds us "He's Just Not White Right"?)

And if Ford does say "I won't speak ill of my family" in this spot...why? What the hell does that mean in the context of defending himself from nasty ads? Why would you want to "speak ill" of your own family to a camera when you are running for office? I am honestly utterly confused as to what that line is there for. Did I just mishear it the three times I played it?

UPDATE @ 10:02 AM PST: It would make sense to me if he said either "It's not cool/proper/right to speak about my family" or even "I wouldn't talk shit about his family," but to me, this sounds inarguably like he is saying he wants to "speak ill" of his own family, but won't do it in this situation...because he has some integrity. I don't know. Like I said, I don't understand that line.

Thoughts?
