PLEASE re-listen to this clip of the Boston Legal episode where James Spader plays the most righteous mofo this side of Tiananman Square. Because these things his character is outraged about are still in place, even if the Democrats will have a majority vote in the House and Senate. These thing—first and foremost, this "anti-terrorism" approach to the world and each other, is still in place. We feel good, as if we have absolved ourselves, and as if we are now rescued and secure; wrested free from the unchecked agenda of madmen. And I'm glad. I feel better, too. But we must not lose sight of what took us here, to what can take us further in these directions, and even to what has changed already, so that the (relative) calm does not obscure the true dangers that still (and always) lurk: Apathy and Fear.

kick it, ése.
