FROM Oaxaca Study Action Group:

foto from cryptome.orgThe war is on in Oaxaca. It began at 8:00 AM with the gathering of the PFP and an inflitartion [sic] of porros and state police in plain clothes. There are 5,000 PFP and many people if they're out there. The Rector of the universidad has called for unity and deonounced [sic] the federal gov. It is an autonomous community. From (right wing and usually annoying blogger) Mark in Mexico:

foto from mark in mexico blog OK, heavy traffic on my street now as APPistas flee the battle. The helicopter is now circling directly overhead. That means the fleeing APPistas are directly in front of our neighborhood, just on the other side of the two shopping centers. Heavy smell of smoke in the air. The noise from the chopper is drowning out the noise of explosions.

The chopper moves away and I can hear explosions but no sirens. We've run out of ambulances."

From Nancy Davies posted at the Narcosphere:

People are gathered and resisting with paint (throwing it on the armored cars), nails on the tires, gasoline (that sounds like fires). The military may be reinforcing, but this has not verified. Human rights observers, anybody with a camera or video should go to the University; people are wounded and are being arrested. ...

The call is out for everyone to resist."

UPDATE: "The APPO has forced the PFP into a retreat from its attempted incursion into the Benito Juarez University. But the war is far from over." —Narcosphere
