Bien, Bien

Friday Night.
Here's a case of a band who really needs a video director! Je-je. Not to be overly critical but not much happens in the video. I post it because it's a great band, and I've always loved this song for its phrasing tighter than the seams in hell, the sneery vox, and superb vocal phrasing. (The name at the beginning of video is the person who uploaded it at YouTube, or even the director of the actual video).
Other aspects I love:
• How "Bien, Bien" is actually spat out.
• "Gulping" bass slide that repeats under verse.
• Vocal "tag-team" RUN-DMC type vox.
• Descending bassline in chorus.
• Simple, strong beat. Machine gun fill before chorus. Full stops.
• BRASS!
• The "cheering section" type backup vocals on the breakdown feel ironic.
• Funky breakdown
• Great example of the contractions that Español can do at the end and beginning of words ("elision"), where lines like Elevando anochecer become Elevandwanochacer.
Favorite line: Cuando hay luna, cuando hay sol. For the phrasing, not necessarily the translation. (If you're listening for it and don't speak Spanish, it sounds like "Kwando eye luna, kwando eye soul") Either that or when he goes "ja-ja, ja-ja!"
Control Machete, Bien, Bien. From the album Uno, Dos: Bandera. Lyrics.
Disfruten esta noche!

kick it, ése.
