Bits, Bytes, and Burritos of Light

grafik by Nezua MORE BLOGGERY GOODNESS for the CyberXican@ in you! ...Or just the plain old geek.

1. SITE GLOSSARY now here (also linked on sidebar above the McDemon munching). Sometimes I find those site glossaries annoying (as in O you really think you have such a special lexicon, or that I will be here that much?), but I am past that, now that it is MY glossary. ;) Actually, I know that POC bloggers have a somewhat specialized lingo, and often we are too deep in it to realize that others have no idea what some of these words mean. So, in the name of communication (because that's so much of what this is about, right?) I will add words to that list. It is small now. But if you, a valued reader of UMex (my personal lil abbrevo and it sounds like a new version of FedEx, jeje—"we'll get your package there, but we won't ruin our peace of mind to do it right away") are fresh to this lingo and know of words that would help you OR anyone to have available, I humbly request your input. I've made it easy with a form you can send in requests very easily on that page. If you are someone well-versed in the lingo, feel free to offer addenda or edit suggestions to my definitions, too.

2. You will now see on comments (here, por ejemplo) that next to each comment is a "Reply" link. This injects extra words after your comment that tells a reader who you are replying to! How nifty is that? It also makes a link to the comment you are replying to. You can even type out your entire comment and then scroll up and click "reply" next to the comment you are answering. It will then insert a checkbox (checked, and this one works) that says "reply to x", and does all the magic without you losing your typed text. Of course you don't have to use this feature, and if not, everything will work as it usually does.

3. A tiny thing aqui: With the increased linkedness, guestposting at other blogs, and citing of my blog, some bloggers—usually ones not in my "circle"—have begun referring to me "UnaMex" or some other such shortening of this blog's title. It's sounds a-okay if you refer to me in the third person as "the Unapologetic Mexican," as in: The Unapologetic Mexican has written a groovalicious post on x. I think in the third person, that works fine (as well as Nez/Nezua at the Unapologetic Mexican) does). But when directly addressing me, your saying "Dear Unapologetic Mexican" or "UnaMex, ..." to me makes me feel as if I am The Steppenwolf, or at a distance from you. So, hey. I'm happy that you think of me, and talk to me out here. I won't tell you how to do it. But I will share a secreto with you. In el blogosfero, when speaking or writing to me directly, mi amig@s always use "Nez" or "Nezua."

I will, of course, leave it in your hands as to whether or not you want to identify yourself as a friend or someone "out of the loop." :)

4. I have still not solved the trackback issue! It is the one remaining thorn in my side. I have sent some mails out here and there. But if you know any Movable Type wizards, feel free to tell them that I am happy to barter payment to have them fix this issue, or look into it. If someone is wed to the USD system, and feels they can fix it, I will try to rustle up the cash they want to do so. If that is what it would take.

Okay. Carry on.
