I THINK THAT WAS ONE OF THOSE THINGS where you say "if I had known ahead of time, I probably wouldn't have done it. Jeje. Not really. I had to do it. And I'm rather elated. There are a few bugs to fix yet in the code, and minor asthetic tweaks, but all the hard lifting is done. And it was a lot. Wow. But I've fixed problems that have bothered me for a long time; I've made my front page everything it ever begged to be, and I can now forget about it and get back to using the blog...not just tweakin' it.
Tomorrow before dawn (I love the early day, get up at 4:30 - 5:45 without an alarm clock), I'll begin geekin' out on Marisa's new design until I nail this latest pass at her job. (Here's her old/current blog.) I've been working on hers for weeks. The new incarnation of Latina Lista is not just a blog, but multiple ones, and más... Real doozer. Anyway, she's hardcore journalist style blogger (like our amigo XP) and they both are must-reads for the Latin@ community, while we're at it. Mad syndication vat@s.
Hey, it's something how la gente are all pulling together. You feel it? I do. It's good to think about. I feel a wave. And given the other wave that's murkily frothing about (you know which one I mean), it feels good to know we are orienting on something unseen, without discussing it, just acting as if in accordance with el destino. I know a number of us getting serious with our commitment, with our bloggage, maybe beefin up the software or URL or dedication or time or our language, or art for the community, or time for the community, or thoughts, strength, priority. Moving closer to that fifth sun...
Good things are available to us in a time (again) of demonization, and amongst currents of ignorance, blame, fear, hate. Unity is one.
¡Raza! Big ups to all good souls, friends, family, allies—always. But also, now is a time to be there for each other, for the Latin@, Chican@ community. I know madmen are publishing books, haters on the radio, haters online, and we are catching a lot of blame and all the brown are becoming lumped into one juicy, fearful, faceless amalgam. Note that. That's what these systems were built on, and it's what still fuels them if you look hard enough. At least in part. You and I are not concerned with those percentage figures. Just in our collective path rising. And we are.
I don't know where it's all going. Maybe people will find other things to do with their own fear and guilt. Or maybe the Xenophobic meme will grow even more extreme (isn't that the world's politest word? "Xenophobia"?) Mexico is squeezed in the sick, sticky grip of corruption and oppression, the US's hands are moving behind the scenes, they crush the farmers and little man with NAFTA, they hunt us here, and the war on the Indians of this continent still will not end.
You know how easy it is to break one stick? And how hard it is to break fifty of them in a bundle? Big ups, peeps. Just sayin'. Good to see ya. Preparan.
Tomorrow for more. I've been at this current challenge for almost a "work week"s worth of hours crammed into about 2.5 days. My eyes are blurry.

kick it, ése.
