Canción del muchacho de siete corazones

Siete corazones
tengo.
Pero el mío no lo encuentro.

En el alto monte, madre,
tropezábamos yo y el viento.
Siete niñas de largas monos
me llevaron en sus espejos.

He cantado por el mundo
con mi boca de siete pétalos.
Mis galeras de amaranto
iban sin jarcias y sin remos.

He vivido los paisajes
de otras gentes. Mis secretos
alrededor de la garganta
¡sin darme cuenta! iban abiertos.

En el alto monte, madre,
(mi corazón sobre los ecos
dentro del álbum de una estrella)
tropezábamos yo y el viento.

Siete corazones
tengo.
Pero el mío no lo encuentro.

Song of the Seven-Hearted Boy

Seven hearts
are the hearts that I have.
But mine is not among them.

In the high mountains, mother,
where I sometimes ran into the wind,
seven girls with long hands
carried me around in their mirrors.

I have sung my way through this world
with my mouth with its seven petals.
My crimson-colored galleys
have cast off without rigging or oars.

I have lived my life in landscapes
that other men have owned.
And the secrets I wore at my throat,
unbeknownst to me, had come open.

In the high mountains, mother,
where my heart rises over its echoes
in the memory book of a star,
I sometimes ran into the wind.

Seven hearts
are the hearts that I have.
But mine is not there among them.

—Federico García Lorca, Song of the Seven-Hearted Boy

A meme from Lorna Dee. The first poem I remember reading was... Hmm. I'm sure it was Dr. Suess, if that counts. But the first POEM I remember reading (and this sure doesn't mean it was the first) was Annabel... [Read More]
