A Pyramid in Pacoima

Categorized under Arte , Blogando , Literatura | Tags: , ,

grafik LAURA, our favorite editor, called to give me The Crunch. That is, she called me to inform me that they need me to chop my article by 35% and have it done by tomorrow morning, at the latest. So I will be nariz to the grindstone for the rest of the day. Comments may wait for a while before being answered.

I talked to Jefito, he gave me some ideas on what I might want to clarify, too. Some magic from the old school. My favorite quote of his after reading the article? The nahuatl is piercing...gotta get my Moctezumapedia ready. Jeje. He always cracks me up.

jfh You take Alurista and ol time Ricardo Sanchez and all the Aztlecas to task...you better be ready to lead the Macehaules to the temple, cuz after this gets printed you will receive a pyramid in Pacoima with all the menudo you ever dreamed of...

You truly take on the Aztlán crusade where many if not all chican@ thinkers and mostly poets left off, about 20 years ago, at the least.

Aw, hell. It's my papá, so take it with a grain of salt. But he does know his literature, and his historia. I was very proud to hear his words on it. Because he isn't afraid to point out things that aren't fantastico, too. Anyway, one more plug for the much-heralded issue #3! Don't miss out, amig@. Snatch up a sub! I am sort of hoping in a rather unrealistic way that I can cruise down for the celebratory party in downtown LA on the 27th. Who knows. Maybe I'll step in something and will be able to afford a bus ticket.

¡hasta luego!

Thanks for the billion hits, but if any other malkinites want to come drop some derision, please bring better arguments than this clown. When I lace up, I likes to get down. Here I am, just warming up my swing, and that cat throws like a drunken dodo bird with a fractured wing.

Ah, the joys of editing. To slightly misquote Cantinflas (and many others): "Writing is easy... editing is hard."

Editing is what separates the writers from the hacks. I wish I had more time to edit my own things, and wish you luck. For my book (I've still got a chapter and a half to go), I've had to draft my Mother's retirement community as readers. Nobody in their right mind wants to plow thru 250 pages of text on Mexican history unless they're really really bored... or old :-)

Buen suerte!

Thanx for the plug! Your pyramid in Pacoima has been moved by developers to Palmdale but it's bigger than you ever imagined.
