grafik by Nezua I AM STILL NECK-DEEP into laying out (for the first time EVAH) the Great Aztlán Reconquista Plot soon to be published in the beautiful Chican@ Art Mag—which is not something you can just bang out. Laura Molina (the editor) sent me the cover for issue tres, which you are among the first public to see (left). It has a great Russian Constructivist/down wit da revolución/standing up hardcore for the Chican@ faction look. We are not going away! We are only growing in pride, number, and unidad. And it feels good to be a part of this.

I first pimped the mag out here, and then I related the mysterious story of why my Mel-rant did not make the Fall Issue after all, and here is where I announced the mag's decision to enlist yours truly as the writer to deliver the revelation of the Aztlán Plot.

To tell you the truth, I've really been stressing out over writing it. I had to force myself to type that line because I'm not "stressing out" in the way the English language uses that word. I know no other. For me, doing art or writing...it's stress. It's a joyful stress. And when I take it seriously, it is more stressful. I need another word. Because normally, "stress" indicates a negative tension. But this type of stress is a necessary and integral tension to my creative process. Were there no "stress," there would be no quality. So perhaps I should say I've been "working hard," or I've been "pushing myself." I want this one to be good. It feels like a core article for #3; it's the plot the world of nativists keep referring to (and to which I've referred in a few places), and it's mentioned on the cover. So I want it to be top notch.

And it is. I'm just not quite finished yet. I'm to send it to Laura tonight, and they begin laying out this issue on Saturday, when all the artists meet and such.

So I need to get back on that ahora, but I wanted to let my regular and loyal readership (PROPZ!) know that I will not be around too much today, as I was not yesterday. I feel bad when I can't answer comments that really require an answer. But sometimes it has to be done. Come the day this blog feeds my pocket as well as my heart, I can prioritize it in many more situations, of course. I do expect to finish up The Skin of my Soul Part 5 later on tonight, if I can get to it. It's mostly done, as I often work on like ten posts at a time, gradually honing them until one is done and I can publish it. (Except for those news items that burn a hole in my belly and force me to write on them immeeedjitlee...like our pal Hal did yesterday!)

And man. I just spent an hora or two bringing over just a few threads of comentarios from the old Halo system so I could link you to the posts, completo. Ugh. What a task that is. Sorry to those who are subscribed to comments for bombing your feed with those, but it has to be done. Eventually I'll get them all moved over. But these threads add so much to posts I've written that to remove them really guts the energy that goes on here, an energy that sustains, feeds, entertains, educates, and encourages me. So it must be done. A little at a time.

Hablamos pronto—

Write on! Only the Reeducators would want you to be lackadaisical. It's their way of maintaining colonial control!
