Categorized under Acción , Historia , Raza | Tags: , ,

FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING the story of Ken Burns' and his omission of Latinos from his newest documentary on WWII, The War—here is a call to action sent out today from Gus Chavez:

Representatives of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus meet with PBS President Paula Kerger today Tuesday, March 27, 2007.

A call to action to all supporters of the Latino World War II DEFEND THE HONOR Campaign. Please take three minutes of your time and call your Congressional representative today and have them call Paula Kerger President of PBS to demand the inclusion of the Latino experience in PBS Ken Burns World War II documentary scheduled to be aired on September 23, 2007. Your call to your Congressional representative will help send a clear message to PBS that over 500,000 Latinos fought in WWII and must be recognized for their bravery and contribution to their country. WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW.

Your representative address and telephone number can be found at: http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/index.html

PBS Ombudsman: 703-739-5290

Thank You

Gus Chavez

I'll call the American GI Forum. Calls from them would carry a lot more weight than mine.

This cool dude used to be my boss, it was a pleasure to work for him because he gave us the respect a professional gives others. I miss him desperately but I'll never convince him to come back the the desert of academia.

If I think about it too much I may cry inconsolably and nobody likes a chiona.

Still reading your blog even though it takes time to digest a proper response. Today's response was immediate though.

kick it, ése.
