It's a tiny victory in forest fire, this may be the only person that pays for this. Yes he was sacrificed but he had no defense and no one stood up for him, he was in essence out there by himself.
I don't feel sorry for him he knew what he was doing, but it's a big price to pay all by himself, he was royally screwed.
