GOP Soon to Love Minorities
Categorized under When the Right is SO wrong | Tags: Ken Mehlmen
WELL, ISN'T THAT SWEET. Now that the GOP is in trouble, who do they think of? The people they criminalize or persecute or slander when they're riding high. Lookin' round, now, for the Brown™ to help pick 'em up off the ground.
Ken Mehlman, the former Republican National Committee chairman who now gathers political intelligence for the Akin Gump lobbying firm, said the GOP is in need of urgent rehabilitation, which won't come unless it can defy long-term voting patterns.
'We have to win back the confidence we lost in '06 from swing voters and ticket splitters," said Mehlman. 'The way you do that, in part, is by being a party that is less reliant on white guys and expands its support among Hispanics, among African-Americans.'

Yeh. Good luck with that, amigo.

And the Homosexuals! Don't forget the Homosexuals, Mehlman. I swear, sometimes I think he's got a block or something. It's like he subconsciously wants to disown us. THEM! I meant "them." We need a separate but equally big tent for them too. As long as everyone stays in his or her or its own tent, everything will be fine. We can do this. Go team.

The sad part is that I think that as RNC chair, Mehlman really did want to bring more POC into the Republican party, but it was always an uphill battle, since he's the only one. Even sadder, is that the Democrats are the same and are doing as little as possible to bring or retain POC to the Democratic party. We've got no place to go with our votes.
