VAYA CON DIOS, Kurt! You were a storyteller, a teacher, and a friend.

The world won't be quite the same without you, amigo.

This made me sad, I loved reading his books I think I read all of them. This author brought his many gifts to us via his slim readable books and certainly taught me a lot about tolerance, humor, empathy, hope and just plain silliness.

What I learned and the best lesson for me was, life is a gift don't squander it and don't take yourself so seriously either. It may sound like a dichotomy but it isn't really.

Cool picture, dude.

Nice work Nez. Good on gettin this to J's General also. Vonnegut was great. He knew those fuckin' fires at Dresden would never die. So it goes.

--taken over by means of the sleaziest, low-comedy, Keystone Cops-style coup d’etat imaginable. And those now in charge of the federal government are upper-crust C-students who know no history or geography, plus not-so-closeted white supremacists, aka “Christians,” and plus, most frighteningly, psychopathic personalities,--KV
Did he ever really write any fiction? It was all truth to me.

"So it goes."

I wanted to write on KV, but my site isn't quite relevant. I met him twice, lived in a building his grandfather designed -- and taught writing for one semester in his old high school in Indianapolis. Not much of a personal connection, and that was ages ago.

Damn. I'm a bit over 50, and for people my age, Vonnegut is THE American writer who captured the whole absurdity of our time. Being a chain-smoker until the end, dying of an accident at age 84 was a fitting last comment on fate.

Agh, his death is so sad for me, I've loved him for decades and read everything he ever wrote. One of the most sensitive, wise and funny elders, a true national treasure, slipped away from us, with hardly a memorial to be had, Jim Lehrer's show did 15 mins on him last night, but compared to the media blitz crying for Imus' rights to be a rich white racist, there's nary a mention for Kurt.

I was lucky enough to see him speak a few years ago, what a giant of a man. Breaks my heart to know it was brain damage.

I knew you'd get it Nez.;)
Gracias

kick it, ése.
