Compassion in the Bush

Categorized under Humor | Tags: ,

DEAR DON SURBER:

The image you posted showing the world the depth of George W. Bush's compassionate moment with Senator Byrd's time-weakened digits greatly moved me. You stated in your post that the photo was receiving "so little play" in the newspapers exactly because it revealed the depths of the Decider's empathy. And I have to agree. This picture could be very damaging to Bush-haters. Me, for one.

You see, I used to be one of those people who felt a deep hatred for Bush. A writhing, twisting, raw, and untempered loathing for the man. Sure, I was furious (or so I thought), about his WMD lies, with his mocking "search" for them on video, for his conflating Iraq with Al Qaeda, for his destructive bias toward corporate entities, as well as his harmful and (as I thought of them) idiot policies about the environment. Well, I can't forget Katrina. Boy, did I want to belt him in the mouth when he was slinging around that guitar at the same time people were drowning and starving and sitting out in the hot sun next to corpses.

But as a God-imagining man, I must practice compassion and forgiveness. Byrd himself once said "Rather I should die a thousand times [...] than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds," and I have forgiven him. Hell, I've even forgiven him for implying that Bill Clinton is a "White Nigger." You know? Bygones are bygones and all that.

Well, thanks to your foto, this is how I now feel about Bush. True, once upon a time, I absolutely detested the man I called "that moron chimp-hearted arrogant ass-faced murderer schmuck-boy," (I know, I was that Deranged!) for all these things as well as his sheer hypocrisy, and, you know...even the way his shoulders get all hunchy when he does that little chuckle...you know the one. Like how Beavis laughs, when he is picking his ass. Or maybe Butthead, I can't recall which one was which. Probably Butthead.

Anyway. That's the old me. Since quietly and reverently pondering your post, I have been fighting the nearly-uncontrollable urge to run straight to Pennsylvania Avenue and hug up on President Bush. To inhale his aura of Old Spice, to press firmly against his expensive suit fibers until their very pattern is etched into my grateful forehead flesh, to grasp him tighter yet, until finally I am met by the firm and hollow mass of the compassionate codpiece, itself. I am sure you feel these same swellings of emotion when you look at the picture of Bush and Byrd under the flickering and dim lights of your own hand-hewn bathroom stall.

What I was wondering was do you think we can vote Bush in for a third term? I was once very strongly for the two-term limit, but I'm willing to go for a third round of Bush if he would hold hands with a few more reformed racists. Maybe if you could snap a shot of Derrrrr Leader holding a fork for Michael Richards? Or sponging off Joe Biden?

With much love (and no thoughts of Katrina),
Nezua

PS: My great thanks go out to Maglalang, who pointed me to Mister Surber.

I don't get it, ese. We're you being sarcastic? Or did you have an epiphany of the sorts I had on 9/11, 9/12, 9/13...n/n?

he's sort of pitiable in a Gollum sort of way. beyond that...yeah, that's as much as i got.

p.s. what is it about his hands? they're WEIRD. i can't put my finger on why, though.

Bush's hands or Byrd's hands?

Byrd's wrist looks like he's already a corpse. Now that's striving to be as white as you can be.

A Byrd in the hand is worth two in the Bush? In fact, it looks to me like Bush, looking down distastefully, is clenching his hand in such a way as to avoid actually holding Byrd's hand, lest anyone think he was a big old fag with a propensity for old, reformed racists.

what you don't see is that the President is actually muttering to him: "If you don't go easy on Gonzales next week, so help me God, next time I'll fucking let you fall."
