OR..."COLONIAL CARPENTERS." I couldn't decide between the two. I pick both of them, we all win.
Carlos Mencia for those who can bear it.
It seems that Carlos Mencia has the solution for Mexican citizens. How to rebuild your country and solve your economic woes: just attack America.
What? You're just jealous that you didn't think of it first!
update i was just saying here in the Tha Real Life situation, "look who is out there reppin' for mexican americans lately? no wonder they think we're thieves and stupit! gonzales and mencia?? we need some better PR!" ay dios mio, indeed.

This was the premise of an old Peter Sellers film called the Mouse that Roared (which used the Marshall Plan as the model). The film is classic because the small fictional country ends up stealing a secret weapon and winning the war.
It's amazing how history just keep cycling though.

Or more precisely how often Mencia steals gags.

I forgot about that story. It was still funny. The delivery counts for a lot.

XP sent me a variation on the theme: http://www.level4press.com/ramh.html
It's got great comedy potential (I can imagine a few good sit-coms), but the guy is serious.

"In five years you'll be Puerto Rico...."
Excuse me! What the fuck! Ok Carlos your ignorance is showing big time, your another idiot who has bought into the "happy compassionate occupation" gig. Someone who has never lived here, does not know our reality wants to tell me that this is a good thing?
Again, WHAT THE FUCK!
If living under imperial occupation/forceful assimilation is good I really don't know my good from my bad....

Worse of course is that he saying to Mexicans and everybody else south of the border..."If you only bend over and take it, everything will be just fine."

oh, i agree, rafa...but i really do think mencia is trying satire here. that is, he is saying that Puerto Rico got fucked, and that his point is that America is a colonizing nation.

Don't get me wrong...I like Mencia, but his delivery here, well it sucked. If it had said it would be like Iraq or Afghanistan then it would have made sense, but you know that many of his viewers are going to say..."Puerto Rico, hey thats a nice vacation spot! That sounds like a great idea!"
Jon Swift he is not.

ps rafa, mencia and i have a tormented relationship. i sort of listen sometimes to his shtick, but for some reason, i always cringe. even when i laugh. so i try to minimize the occurrences. filing such conflicts and dichotomies under mestizaje consciousness only goes so far!
