EL GENERAL has me racking my brains for "love songs" so I bring this one over here to set off this very warm friday evening. Perhaps not a typical "love" song, more about, well...obsession. And being drawn into it, even despite consequences. And the hesitation or admonishment not to. The song is in the format of a man telling a woman how crazy he is going (calls her up at five in the a.m.), head over heels, losing his mind, can't sleep, waxing poetic, impressing her with his Lexus (you know how it goes)—and then her replies back to him. So the song is a conversation. She is telling him that it is not love, that he is obsessed, that this is just the way the heart works. And he cannot deal with this, but pleads more for her to understand the woe he feels, the need he feels, the cell phone trouble he is having over the whole thing.
I enjoy how it is not resolved. and of course, the sound of it. Very smooth, sweet, sexy song. Aventura, with Obsesión.
(Maybe Mister Tobias should have heeded the girl's words in this song?)
