Join in a one-day conference celebrating diversity and examining racial issues through eastern practices and talks Friday, April 20, as Naropa students present Floricanto Naropa on the Arapahoe Campus.

Floricanto Naropa includes several guest speakers including: Juan Felipe Herrera, Naropa Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and Senior Diversity Officer Suzanne Benally, and Sudarshan Kapur, with a meditation session led by Naropa Professor and Archarya Judith Simmer Brown. California-based Ahisma Locos will perform with local poets in an evening event that will be followed by a catered reception.

10-11am Frontera Meditation w/ Acharya Judith Simmer Brown. Join us in a guided maitri meditation & visual journey on the atrocities that surround the US/ Mexico border. No meditation experience is necessary. (Goldfarb Studio)

11-12am Environmental Racism w/ Suzanne Benally. Join us for a discussion on the controversial intersection of immigration and the environment. (Goldfarb Studio)

12-1pm Gandhi & Chavez: Discussion w/ Peace Studies Professor Sudarshan Kapur on Gandhi's influence over Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Worker's movement.

7pm Main Event: Featuring Author & Performance Artist, Juan Felipe Herrera, with California based Latin soul project Los Ahimsa Locos.

Very interesting (not that the other recent posts aren't also fascinating, they are). But I saw a Naropa professor read in Minneapolis last month, Ann Waldman, very cool and dynamic and utterly avant-garde and non-mainstream, and smart, and am meaning to write about her in some sort of venue, and so it is interesting to see the other cool things Naropa is doing...
