The Desert of the Real

ONCE GROWN, WE DEFAULT TO LOYAL SUBJECTS and mostly because our own parents have often done a better job of teaching us to listen and obey their own rules and the rules that have come to rule them, than in teaching us to stand independently, to question even themselves, to assert a faith in our own hearts and minds that supercedes even the tenets they have built their own lives upon. We default to bowing immediately to the cops, to a scolding, to a principal, to a priest because we have been trained to obey. But the job of a parent is not to command a disciple. It is to guide a new life into finding its own means, its own sensors, its own answers. It is to provide a safe place to explore a new consciousness, one that possibly can save the old world we have, ourselves, polluted and perverted. It is not to pass down the tired lies that inform our myriad compromises.

We unwittingly become the very first authorarians and pass on our own sense of futile enslavement to the system, and to the belief that it is best to submit to such a system. We pass on the lies we tell ourselves that enable us to quiet the doubt within. We pass on the ignorance we choose every day in order to live with ourselves as part of this greedy and violent nation. We teach, by example and by word, our children to invest in and feed this monster, this empire, this disease. We teach them to trust the American government and her corporate hegemonic methods and greedy amoral behavior. And there is no greater harm we can do to a new mind than to aid our own slavemasters in this way.

Unfortunately, the government of your childhood and of your delusions is one that has been inculcated into your head from birth through brainwashing and propaganda. In reality, it is a government that cares not one ounce for you or your fellow citizens, preferring to golf and fundraise while your city drowns in massive Katrina created floods, leaving you to rot in the squalor of sewage and human chaos. The government of your youth and dreams is one that has firebombed entire cities to rubble, killing hundreds of thousands in Germany and Japan. It is the only government to use nuclear weapons on foreign cities. It is the government that murdered 3 million Vietnamese and planted the seeds for Pol Pot to kill millions of Cambodians. It is the government that has decimated democracy in the Philippines and Indonesia, helping to suppress freedoms, assisting in destroying hundreds of thousands of lives.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

I think that of all the snooty-patooty movies I've seen—and I've studied Visconte, De Sica, Fellini, Godard, and Truffaut at NYU, even sat through dissertations on them—few have moved me as much as The Matrix, that seemingly fun, pop, piece of American culture. It is really one of the true great movies of our time. For we do live face-deep in this vat of enchantment. Although I don't think we need wait for a savior. I think Neo is you and I. And I think getting past this disreality that is "the wool" pulled over our own eyes begins simply by escaping the frame that is provided us by our hypnotists and facing the hard facts.

I know why the Left is afraid of the truth. Why their questions will only go so far. Why they ridicule the 9/11 truth movement almost as much as the Right. Because it threatens to unearth even the ground under their own feet. But we better develop the bravery. There is no safe footing in a dream that has been painted to contain your mind. In the encroaching and future fascist state of America, there will be no room for even pretend freedom.

This government of your fantasy has never cared about democracy or freedom, over the last fifty years overthrowing more than fifty democratically elected leaders of nations, either by coup, assassination or economic measures. As always, of course, these democratically elected leaders are replaced by military juntas, dictators, strongmen and puppets of our choice, picked because of their fidelity foremost to American interests, not those of their people. This government of yours, the one incapable of murdering 3,000 of its own citizens for economic, strategic and financial motives, has participated in or contributed in the death of one to two million souls in Central and South America, either through its dictators or its sponsored death squads or paramilitary thugs, never allowing Latin America the opportunity to prosper.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

Complicity in the American Empire's bloody grasp upon not only her own people but the world depends on us knowing very little about history and world events. Her grasp is slipping. And it must be helped to slip. For her clutch is murderous and dangerous to a free-thinking mind and heart, it is anti-human, it is anti-truth, it is greed and murder personified and glossed over with shiny packaging. We must not be spoiled tots on a holiday bedecked with gift-wrapped corpses, happy to tear open the glittery packaging, ignoring the rotten odor poisoning the air.

The altruistic government you cherish cares so much about human rights and freedoms that its multitude number of dictators and puppets are renowned for their human rights violations and their suppression of civil liberties and freedoms. The Middle East, that land of the Arab you hate so much, is a cesspool of torture, abuses, human rights violations and lack of freedoms, all supported by the puppets, kings and dictators your government is in bed with. Your government is the government most despised around the world after the one in Israel, thanks to its newfound affection with torture, mass murder, the preemptive invasion and occupation of Iraq, the death of one million of its citizens, the displacement of two million more and the importation of hell on Earth into its streets. Through a war of choice, based on lies and criminality, a civil war ready to burst and engulf an entire region in flames is afoot, yet your altruistic government is on the verge of attacking Iran, a nation that poses no military threat to America.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

It is mind-boggling and horrifying to me how easily the American mind can justify, rationalize, overlook heinous crime and outright evil. It is utterly disheartening to me to the point of breeding contempt in my soul how willingly we ride along on this murder machine. Our leaders have studied both Orwell and Nazi Germany and enacted upon us a massive campaign of control and exploitation and you would think we would be brave enough and learned enough to recognize it en masse and respond with corazón. But no. We are not those patriots of yesterday, those comic book heroes in our high school textbooks. We are the Imperial forces now, we are the fat, rich, lazy, beer-sodden, fat-lined, bloodstained, sugar-coated perpetrators of colonialism and greed. And we accept crime upon crime upon blatant lie and satisfy ourselves with tiny hopes and compromise. But what is called for is outrageous, is shocking, is unorthodox. What is called upon is to go, now, to our hearts. To our very core. To go to the place where true thinking is done, where fearless speaking is done. To examine our bedrock, that upon which we live, upon which we base our loyalty, our faith, and our personal allegiance. Before that bedrock is imploded as mysteriously as two massive skyscrapers at freefall speeds or an untouched nearby building.

Every act of criminality done in the past six years has as its genesis the horrific mass murder of 9/11. Every illegal war, every act of torture, illegal imprisonment, destruction of rights and freedoms, all mass murder done in America’s name is attributed to the destruction of the Twin Towers. If the enemy within is capable of such barbarity, if they had the audacity to perpetuate the greatest crime in American history, all to implement their delusional vision, all to enrich and empower their fellow criminals, what is to say that they will not do it again, in greater capacity, killing in greater numbers? One more so-called attack on American soil will destroy the America that we have lived in and enjoy, the one we love and cherish, the one of internal freedoms and rights, of the pursuit of happiness, the one enjoyed by present day citizens.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

But that wouldn't happen, right? Let's be reasonable. As reasonable as we have been in accepting the many ridiculous incongruencies and impossiblities of the official 9/11 fable.

No, I think many know in their bellies the horrible and scary truth. But it's so much easier to turn away, isn't it? Because what the hell are you supposed to do? One small person? One lone human? In the face of such bald-faced evil, what power do you have? It is certainly not your "vote."

Already American democracy and freedom are in their last throes, hemorrhaging from years of corporatist mutilation. Elections have become a sham, a farce. Freedoms are disappearing, becoming extinct. The enemy within wishes for nothing more than an authoritarian, fascist nation, the easier to make decisions, the easier to implement their vision, the easier to control the population. The enemy within detests democracy, and this we must understand. Democracy and freedom are enemies. Ask yourself who has been the organization destroying our democracy and freedoms, our civil rights and liberties? Who has enacted Patriot Acts One and Two, who has destroyed due process, right to an attorney, habeas corpus? Who has tried to silence truth, dissent, protest and free speech? Who has made torture legal, false imprisonment necessary, confessions by torture legal and evidence concocted through hearsay or torture legal? Who has made it legal to spy on American citizens, opening our email accounts, overhearing our phone conversations, looking into our lives? It has not been the dreaded Arab evildoers. It has been the Bush administration. It has been your own government.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

If nothing else, we can begin talking about this. Normalizing the doubt, even the conviction, that the evidence of a False Flag event on our own soil has occurred. We can help others to feel comfortable investigating the truth, and we can investigate the truth. We can give support to those public figures brave enough to speak out on what is the most important issue of our time, the one that precedes all the other evils being unleashed, and to be unleashed upon our own nation and the world.

To believe the official story, the official “truth”, one would have to suspend reality, entering into Fantasyland, drinking the corporate world’s kool-aid, believing a government that has not told one truth in almost seven years of office. To believe the corporatist version, one would have to overlook the myriad number of truths, or coincidences, any of which standing alone disprove the official story. To believe a government, and by complicity the mass media, that has not once told a truth about any of its activities, choosing instead to ignore, omit and hide facts that do not validate the official story, choosing to smear and taint the lives of truth seekers instead of confronting and trying to challenge their truth, cherry picking facts much like they cherry picked facts on Iraq before it was invaded, is to purposefully decide to live in delusion, as if the official conspiracy theory is sacrosanct. The laws of common sense, physics, logic, reason, and of evidence, both physical and of countless witnesses, not to mention the knowledge of experts, would have to be abandoned and rewritten for the official conspiracy theory to survive scrutiny.

—Manuel Valenzuela, The Unearthing: An Awakening Has Arrived

Never forget, the Kool-Aid Kidz love to chant, smoothing out their yellow ribbons. But before you can forget, you have to know. Once we know, once we possess truth, then we can act and know that we act in righteousness.

The question lies in whether the forces of light (reason, compassion, truth) will overcome the forces of darkness (greed, fear, ignorance), whether the spirit of the Bolivarian Revolution will sweep over the world, or whether the neocons and their counterparts in other countries will sweep the world away. This is up to us to decide, both collectively and individually, and we are constantly making that decision every moment, in every action we undertake. In that light, let us always remember that we can't really fight fire with fire. We fight fire with water, and to the degree that we have failed thus far to end the War on Terror, is to the degree that we have based our own actions--our own activism--on anger or fear.

—9/11 Five Years Later: What Have We Accomplished?

Anger and Fear will dig this hole deeper. Will build this wall higher. Will stack the bombs deeper, will bring yet more floods of blood. We need heart again. We need bravery, once more. Real bravery. We need unflinching courage to say whatever we believe wherever we stand, and to whomever we speak. We need to act like this dark cloud the threaten us with, the one our own "leaders" threaten us with is but a phantasm. They are the terrorists, and we must live as if they do not frighten us with the demon-littered speeches and their tactics of levering fear upon us. We must teach our young as if we have escaped the grip we have lived in so long. We must completely reject this government's words. For we know what their deeds speak.

Tell the children the truth.

Babylon System, Bob Marley

I was at a comment thread at C&L where conversation was shut down on "alternate theories of 9/11." I commented and told them they were now a joke site to me. That's what they are. A video-clip fun joke site. But they have ruled out tense discussions, or even furious discussions to find truth. They have joined the Right, like many online and 3D-world bastions of the "Left." Afraid of real confrontation with entrenched lies, afraid of impeaching an obvious criminal, afraid of the truth, afraid of leading.

Let us not be afraid of the truth. Wherever it takes us. Even when it hurts us at first. Because I've heard it said somewhere that it sets you free. And wasn't this place once called the Land of the Free? Didn't they tell us that, once? You know, back in the days torture was considered gross and unthinkable? The days that we had Habeas Corpus? Back in the days we had a national pride? Didn't we once call ourselves the Home of the Brave? So was it all smoke, then?
