La Luz

THERE ARE, OF COURSE, those things we do not blog about. They either are not to be shared publicly, will not further the blog's purpose, are inappropriate, or just distracting to the flow.

I'd say that most of this winter, my home life has been extremely stressed because of various reasons. I don't blog about these things, I haven't and won't write too much about them simply because there's just nothing you can do sometimes. When the going gets tough, you just grit your teeth and put your back into it. Wait it out. Like those times you are basically at the end of your rope and just holding on. Introspection or conversation about the fibers of your fray is unappealing and a waste of energy.

Typical stressors, I suppose, (though some not typical at all) but all grouped together in one fantastic cluster. It's been a long Winter. And for a few moments there, hope began to wobble, or wane.

Again, I am not going to delve into specifics (it is possible over time I will), but let's just say there hasn't been enough room here, too many people, not enough money, and all the ensuing conflict and fear and familial strife has resulted. I've been filling my time with grafiks/web work, but too much of it is deferred pay, or done for other broke folk, or done for free, or just enough to keep us from nibbling on cardboard between meals. Both me and mi ruca have been applying for other work, but all winter, nada....

Until now! A source of reliable income has finally been secured. Say hallelujah. It's a job mi novia hooked up, and that means my schedule will change too, but it's what we wanted.

We've been here almost a year, and finally we can save up and get out and get headed down to Califas! Oh, if you've been reading you know how I feel about that. And it's been a lifetime working my way back. That move will take a little time. But it won't take too much time for us to get into our own place (we have been staying with family since leaving Postcard Town), at least. Once we get some space I can get back on my book because I will be able to relax my mind and clear my emotional and mental canvasses. Invierno es truly en retiro now. Terminado, vato. And el sol ayer proved that to me.

Me and lil 'nita will be together a lot during the day and I won't be on the computer too much in those times, but I usually get up at about 5 am and write, so I'll still be posting, although my blogging may slow down a bit. Comments may go unanswered for longer times, and if your comment finds itself in moderation, it will probably stay there longer. In general, my computer time will be noticeably curtailed.

But that's fine. Because now the Spring rolls up strong. And we can trick out this top-down dream machine and get her on the street and sounding mean. Now we breathe a sigh of eleven-month relief. Now me and Luna can get out in the light and tend our jalapeño and habanero and squash and tomato plants every day. Walk out shirtless and with an empty cup. I'll drink two mugs of sun at once, let the green shoots and tendrils fire me up.

Congratulations, Nezua! A break in weather, a crack in the storm clouds, that's always great news! I'll be looking forward to anything you decide to write about your journey to Califas or beyond (not to mention your book, hey I'm wrestling with mine too!). And if posts are infrequent at times, hey I say they'll be all the sweeter and richer for their preciousness. Cheers mano, you deserve to celebrate. :-D

Wow, congratulations, Nez! I'm really happy for you. Looking at that picture, it's clear you're a really lucky man, and I'm glad you can relax with your family now instead of worrying about the moolah flow. And don't worry about not posting--if that littl girl wanted me to come play with her outside, I don't think I'd turn on my computer for months.

such an adorable picture! your lunita is a beautiful little girl. :)
i'm glad things seem to be working out with saving up so you can make your way down to cali.

i don't know about everyone else, but things always seem to look a little better in the springtime. i love being outside in the sun, even though the sun doesn't seem to like me very much.
