Aliens Vs. Senators

Categorized under Humor , Migra | Tags:

THE DAILY SHOW. When I first saw a clip of them testing out the Mexican humor (and it was with Gonzales) it felt off to me, I posted on it (Seedy Gonzales and such, sorry no time for linkness). But I thought this clip was good, realigns the humor against the powerful and the ludicrous, not relying on mothridden Mexican stereotypes for humor.

I especially dig Aasif Mandvi gettin all Tech Support Brown on us.

That was great, I wish I would've seen it live, but I'm usually working or trying to rest since I get up so early...being Mexican is tough.

"taxpayer/cardiologist brown, not dishwasher/parking attendant brown"

HAHAHAHAHA

The really funny part is when Jon is trying his best not to laugh...!

I think in all those correspondent interviews, the best part is when Jon's trying not to laugh.

People have noted the classist underpinnings of the video, but I think that's what stood out for me most. Racism + classism = Mandvi's hilariously nervous head nod.

LOL yeah the head nod...

I know guys just like Mandvi was portraying. It's all about classism. He admits he's brown but he's not like "those guys" because he's got a cushy well-paying job.

They worked in a little slap on CNN's story on Leprosy a week or so ago, made me giggle.

Since I gave up television three years ago, I have to depend on the internet and folks like you to tip me to the stuff worth seeing. It's interesting how often that turns out to be The Daily Show. Thanks. I needed the laugh, especially about a topic that so often leaves me angry and sad. I spent eight days in Cholula, Mexico, in March and haven't been the same since.

Hey, do I get extra points for starting and ending a paragraph with the same word?

I thoroughly enjoyed that video, as did my co-workers on this pathetically slow friday at the office.

Also.....

"you would have! but you added the last sentence and stopped the coins in the chute!!!"

....this was just as funny!!!
