SOLIDARIDAD. Even in Milwaukee, USA.
RACINE — Roughly a dozen local businesses — from Taqueria Gran Morelos and Las Palmas to Alicia Villa Realty and the Dollar Store — won’t open for business today. [...]Approximately 200 Racine Unified high school students and 200-300 family members will board about 10 buses near Case, Horlick and Park High Schools about 7:30 this morning, according to Al Levie, a Horlick social studies teacher who serves as adviser to the student group Students United for Immigrant Rights. [...]
'Most of their parents will be with them,' Levie said. 'This is not a student thing. It’s a community thing.'
Immigrants play a critical role in the economy and the recent immigrant raids and tougher driver’s license requirements were seen a slap in the face in terms of their contribution, Levie said.
'The whole gist is immigrants need to be appreciated — not punished — for their contribution to our society,' Levie said.
Yes. That is the Whole Gist. You getting it now Sensenbrenner? Comprendes, Mister Dobbs? Entiendes, Señor Tancredo? This soakin' in, Buchanan? In fact, without the Mexican American labor force and the Mexican immigrant work force—not to mention the land you've taken from México—your bigtime "America" really ain't much at all, is it? Recognize.
And recognize that your pimpin', enslavin', exploitin', and ignorant ways ain't gonna cut it anymore. And realize that if you react to this year's show of strength and fight for justicia with more sly measures, persecution, and jailing, you are gonna reap it. You cannot push us around, you cannot scare us, you are dealing with a mighty mass of gente, and now that you've had your engines buffed and fueled, it is too late to cut loose the pistons what make it turn.

kick it, ése.
