Americans Raised by ALIENZ???

Categorized under Frontera | Tags:

BETTER LISTEN FOR STRANGE CODED LANGUAGE sent back to the mother ship! Those ALIENZ can show up anywhere. Even in the heart of your Commerce Engine.

Indeed, the presence of illegal immigrants may actually be increasing overall employment, and at little cost to wages, suggested Robert J. LaLonde, a professor of public policy at the University of Chicago. He said that these immigrants increase the overall supply of labor. If demand remains the same, their presence raises the number of jobs in the economy but lowers wages for everyone. But Professor LaLonde said that demand for labor is likely to increase, too, as investment money follows immigrant workers into the country. [...]

Professor LaLonde added that the presence of illegal immigrants in some service jobs makes it easier for Americans to participate in the labor force. The immigrants act as complements to higher-wage workers, who can then participate in greater numbers and become more productive. For instance, he said, “it’s easier for women to work because you can hire more baby-sitters.”

This is a good point and Hispanics don't charge as much as daycare so we make it worth going back to work. $135 a week is totals to half or more of many women's monthly paychecks.

And may teach the kids a thing or two about the world outside of the WASP bubble.

I was talking with a couple recently who told me that their babysitter's babysitter is a Latina. I said, "Uh...why does your babysitter need a babysitter?" And they said something about she can babysit more babies if her slightly older children are elsewhere. The quote in this post explains this. Come to think of it, I think the couple's babysitter is a Latina, too. And she's better and cheaper than their last place. Economists who talk as if "The Economy" is to complicated to understand make my teeth itch.

Nez:

But what about the little ones dietary needs? Are we talking about having our children taken care of by people who have, well, foreign (strange) tastes in food. I, for one, would not want my kids (the fact that I am "without issue" notwithstanding) forced to eat weird "ethnic" delicacies served up by Guatemalan or Salvadoran babysitters. I suppose it could be worked out that the soccermoms or minimumwageWal-Martmoms could just arrange to have their children carry a lunch or wait until they retrieve them and go to, like, Taco Bell or something like that (as long as it ain't Baja Fresh--too many Mexicans worked at the ones I went to in California!).

You know what, Nez, I just had an idea. I been having trouble finding work (it's got nothing to do with the fact that I am a nasty, old white guy). Maybe if you could learn me a little Spanglish it would help. I already know that aying "Hola, Senor Pendejo!"(sorry; my keyboard is MerKKKin, I can't make themy upside down explanation marks) it sure does get some attention but I want to be buy-legal and get the job that some illegal immigrant might otherwise cheat me out of, verstehensie?

LOL!

One of my babysitters (lived with us for quite a while when I was small) didn't speak much English--I have no idea if she was illegal or even Mexican, but she was nicer than my parents (not to mention there for us) and taught me some Spanish. I must have been really little; I barely remember her. But it was a good time.

Not to mention all the jobs for ESL teachers, if this immigration bill goes thru... who will be so busy they need babysitters, who will be so busy, THEY need babysitters... who can hire democommie :-)

Mr. the unassuming gringo:

Now why the heck didn't I think of that? Yeah, babysitting, that's the ticket. Or, better yet, teaching ESL ( I already speak it a second language, I have no first language). Thanks for the idea.

How about teaching ESL to illegal babies? Nah... that means one person doing the work two could do.

This is exactly why they make it illegal to be an alien but do not actually stop the aliens from coming in. Having them here, but underprivileged, is good for the economy. The powers which are know this, and when they say they do not, they are lying.

kick it, ése.
