Selling Satan Souls for Sweet Sensimilia

Categorized under Drogas | Tags: ,

A proposed pro-marijuana conference to be held in the US-administered Northern Mariana Islands has led to a bizarre row among local legislators. [...]

"We welcome anybody who wants to hold a conference here, whether it be to discuss marijuana or not," government spokesman Charles Reyes said Thursday.

img "We want to attract conferences in the Northern Marianas because conferences are good for tourism." [...]

But Senate vice-president Pete Reyes said the conference would give a bad impression of the territory.

"It gives the impression that we're so desperate to generate some money that we would sell our souls," Reyes said.

RawStory

img YES, yes, yes. Your "soul" is safe with preemptive wars based on lies for oil and power, with throwing children in profit-based prisons, with torturing people out of your fear, with ignoring the plight of so many poor and hurting humans because, well, who fuckin' cares?; with letting genocide rip its way through Africa, with letting disease run rampant among poor people, with letting rape run rampant through the Church system, with maintaining a society that is based on greed and ignorance, with the million secret deals that politicians cut to maintain their power at the expense of truth and justice for the weaker among us—I mean Satan can't get NEAR your ass until you light up that REEFER!!!! So you are safe!

My god. Is it really 2007? Or did someone reskin 1940 and trick us into reliving some old, ig'nant, fraidy-cat's delusional morality?

Con Permiso, pero es sin semilla-- without seeds.

es la verdad, pero when the words made their way into united states drug slang via reggae music, they became a compound noun.

I have been gone from the US so long, I was completely unaware of the word changing, and since the lingua franca here is Spanish, even though Marley is revered, I am completely immersed in the original version, indeed I discuss semillas every day, but not cannabis indica or other strains, in case my email is being scrutinized. I lean toward the opinion that it IS being scrutinized--
for certain reasons we will not elucidate here.

well, you have the root, that's for sure. where the word came from. like so many others, you know? that's how it happens. some languages don't like making changes more than others, it seems to me. the USA is a melange of absorption and assimiliation (and i use "melange" to drive it home! ;)...her language habits seem to reflect this.

Back in the day, my siblings all became adults, but my parents were still rabidly "Christian." One day, seeing my pack of cigarettes in my purse, my sister said, "When are we going to admit that everybody in this family smokes?"

I realize that you're not talking about cigarettes in this post, but it occurs to me that, for many in this country, this is an applicable story.

I wish we would all come to our senses about the damn stuff. And legalize it, for crying out loud.

i guess by the time we're mixing prozac with baby formula (made from cloned cows), we'll finally allow people to use MARIHUANA, the deadly "Mexican Opium!!!1!!11!1!!!!!!!!1"
