Down with The Brown?

INTERESANTE. According to UPS, if I live in the United States, my choice of language is...English.

I guess the United Parcel Service isn't interested in dollars from the fastest growing market in this country.

Ok, 'Merican Resistance, he goes back to his place and you get on boat and go back to England or Ireland, or whatever the roting open sewer of a hellhole you got away from in the first place.

Marley was right, if you don't know your Past, ya can't know your Future...

you said it, rafa.

If you know your history
then you know where you're coming from
Then, you don't have to ask me
who the hell do I think I am

Oh, I'm sorry, you're Minuteman so you're too stupid to speak anything other than bad English, so here goes again:

We *are* home, dude. We live here, have lived here for centuries. And yeah, you'd better learn your Spanish fast (not to mention respect our customs in general) cuz they're enshrined *by law*, the law that the US and Mexico agreed on in 1848 and laws passed thereafter.

You see, señor, unlike what you Anglos like to claim, the Mexicans in that nasty little Mexican War you perpetrated back in 1846-48, weren't pushovers-- we fought hard, especially in our historic homelands in California and what are now neighboring states. So hard that by 1848, even as you were occupying Mexico City and Veracruz, you knew you would not be able to suppress the popular uprisings. We had freely moved across that "border" for many centuries, and we demanded our continued basic human rights to still do so. Therefore in a series of treaties you conducted with the Mexican people-- and in the laws passed afterward especially in California, with the Latino population in mind-- you agreed to fully respect Spanish in the public sphere (that means government, ballots, schools, hospitals, libraries, offices), to respect Latino property and territorial rights, to lend full respect to our customs and holidays, to allow free cross-border movement, and treat our people, language and culture as an equal to Anglo people, language and culture.

Some Anglos were respectful of this tradition, but other racist Anglos-- i.e., your predecessors-- were not.

Unfortunately for you, we've never forgotten the rights that are guaranteed to us.

Nunca nos hemos olvidado, y nunca vamos a olvidarnos!

Hombre de Resistance-- we Latinos are again becoming the majority in not only California but also in New Mexico and Texas, soon also in Arizona and even in the southern portion of Florida, in our historic homelands. So much so that our own Latino brethren in places as far away as Missouri and Kentucky, Wisconsin and Minnesota, Iowa and Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia, New Hampshire and New York-- they are moving back to our historic homelands in the Southwest to join with us again.

We would like to live peacefully side-by-side with Anglos like you Resistance, but for this to happen, you must "assimilate" just as we have-- and that doesn't mean assimilating to the Anglo rulership. It means assimilating to the bilingual community here, speaking and writing fluent Spanish in your daily work even as you use English alongside it, and accepting and celebrating our culture alongside yours.

So you'd better improve your Spanish fast, Resistance.

I spent a lot of my life on the east coast. Too much time in cities like you mention. But lately, a lot of things have been in the air, and changes are underfoot and raza is coming together porque we must para la gente, en solidaridad. This is why ahora, yo vivo en Oregon y am making my way abajo, back to las calles y la ciudad de mi nacimiento, Los Angeles. It won't be much longer.

Gracias for your thoughts y palabras y tu fuerza y la voz, amigo.

kick it, ése.
