Nezua Jumps Borders of YearlyKos Convention

Categorized under Blogando | Tags: ,

AND SO THE MOST UNEXPECTED of things has happened, and that is that yours truly has been given—completely unexpected and unforeseen by me—both a Registration grant and a Last Mile grant and so am heading off to the YearlyKos convention in August! Chi-town, baby. Imagine this.

So, big thanks must go out to both the Diversity (or Bringing in Voices) Faerie as well as the Oakland Kid of the Email Out Of The Blue, fundraiser/organizer/blogger extraordinaire (not the same persons/faeries) for all the work and energy he put into making things happen. He really took it to heart making this come together, and I was so exhausted just knowing what he was going through on his end that I had to drink nine Dos Equis® (that would be 18 equis) when he was done just to wind down. I think that's pretty respectable—especially because nobody has said a damn thing about a Dos Equis Grant yet.

Also a gracias mil must be sent out to Howie Klien of Down With Tyranny, and Vicki Cosgrove. Thank you both. (Other people involved in smaller but important ways whose names I know may not want to be named, and yet others who are further behind the scenes but of of whom I will never know, I hope everyone knows that I sure appreciate such a gift made possible by all of you. To your collective good will I shall dedicate a video clip of something salacious or surreptitious shot with my Mobile iSight Spycam Unit.)

So what's my plan of action?

img An amiga has given me the assignments of taping a "kick me" sign on Joe Lieberman (I don't really know that he'll be there, I doubt it, it was just a line we were joking on), and to hold up bunny ears behind Kos. I am not sure if these will be the missions I set myself upon. Perhaps I will liveblog a few sheets of that wind that Chitown is so famous for. Or maybe I will liveblog a discussion on liveblogging. See if I set off any resonances deep in the infrastructure. Or maybe I'll be the first blogger to deadblog part of a Kos convention. Not sure how I'll pull that off, but perhaps attempting to tape a sign onto a politician might be a good start?

Visions of Borat getting thrown out of a convention fill my mind. But there's really no need to be completely naked while taping on the sign, after all. (Is there?)

Stay tuned to this Unapologetic Station for perhaps the spiciest and definitely the least predictable coverage to ever be blogged from a Kos convention. (Oh, and if the Dos Equis® people are reading, why don't we hook something up? Call my people, let's do empanadas.) Oh, and if you are going to be there, or live in Chicago, drop me a line. Or write me. I can never remember what the hell that "drop a line" phrase means anymore. Don't call me, though, even if that's what it means. That would freak me out.

In the belly of the beast for sure.

YAY, Nez! You're the one to be there all right. I can't wait to see what you write and do and create out of this unexpected movement of the Universe. One thing's for sure. They'll know you went. There's gonna be ripples and maybe even shock waves. But naked? No. We need you there. Doesn't mean you couldn't take your shirt off, though. And don't forget to take a bandanna. Just in case...

Chicago is a fun town. Have a great time!

"Ask 'em why they support pro war dems"

which will get you thrown out ala borat @ the rodeo :)

chicago in august is so nice (unless there's a freak hot spell). hopefully this will be on c-span again, i didn't pay too much attention before because i couldn't relate. since you'll be there, it'll obviously be much more interesting this year. and if you get a chance to capture that lake michigan sunrise/sunset for me to see one more time, that would be groovy.

congrats!

the bandana might get you kicked out quicker than not having the bandana but you should totally pretend like you are a tv reporter and when liberman and kos are on camera ask them simple questions like "What does Native American soverignty mean to you in the 21st century?" and "Do you support the EZLN's statements on gender equality?" and "What did you like best about Steven Biko?"

and then post the vids here, of course. i'm gonna start making popcorn now.

jeje, yeah, i won't be wearing a bandanna. maybe my cholo shades. :)

but those are good questions.

gracias, everyone.

Set and Setting. Set and Setting. Down the rabbit hole you go. Take care my friend.

Yeah I'm with RickB: gotta wonder how some of those jackals who ripped Cindy Sheehan a new one would account for their actions if confronted interpersonally.

Well this will give you an opportunity to investigate the Kos family alliances up close and personal. I read the lists of the talks and seminars they are having the other day because I have been seeing the announcements all over left blogsville and I was not all that interested as they mostly detail convoluted political wonkery, although a few seem to be addressing practical daily blog operation matters. You'll certainly get a world of value out of the contacts you make there in terms of brightening up some of the blogs if you can get some contracts to upgrade their graphics and also getting your message out in the future on the blogs that you will now know the operators of personally.
I look forward to your reports from Chicago. Can you try to interview Richardson? His outlook on reality would be nice to read.
One suspects that your previous commentaries on homogeneity at the Kos club have been heard. Nice. You're making real progress, congratulations and Buen Viaje.

nezua limón xolagrafik-jonez dijo:

Yes, a few look good, a few seminar/panels. there is more to be announced. they even asked me if i wanted to be on any, i said sure.

Gov. Richardson? i can try. any more specific questions than how he feels about reality?

gracias, amigo.

James, people just dont act the same in person. it's really cowardly of them to get all vicious online. i saw that post by sheehan. the Kos cult went wild, mostly, pouncing on her. wow. hard core "democrats" like a gang, they are sometimes. keyboard gang members, clickity clacking to keep their turf safe.

I've been away, and sorry to read of the drama related to your going to YearlyKos, (some people are lame...) but I would like to say I think it's awesome!!! And, I cannot WAIT to read your interpretation of the event. I can't think of anything I'll be more looking forward to in the August blogosphere!

Go get 'em!!!

Laura dijo:

GRVTR

Oh yeah, and Chicago is awesome!!!

Thank you, Laura. I've been in Chicago a few times, but nothing to speak of. Usually late nights at the Greyhound station...it may as well have been Jersey, or Seattle for all i could tell. I look forward to scoping it out.

You'll have the most access to the political invitees if you have a three piece suit and look like a TV reporter and have a special graphic laminated press pass thingie all made up and hung around your neck and you are speaking neutral TV English. They are used to that vibe. Hey, ask Richardson about my old friend Mary Jane and also how he would undo the international ill will that Bush and Cheney have manifested.
National Health, National On-line Education, Economics and Human Race Studies at the High School level and hey, I am sure that whatever you would like to ask him is not far from my interests. But let us not forget my obsession-- more widespread food growing, the return of the Victory Garden. His thoughts on that?
Of the candidates, if I could vote, I have the most interest in his candidacy. I do believe he could win, apart from the money it takes to do that.

dont think the tie thing is gonna happen. i read that ties are not really the chosen gear at these things. who knows. maybe ill bring a silk green jobbie. or a red one with suns on it. short sleeves and ink. but honestly, i am not about to get starchy. if anyone allows me access or questions it will be me dressed as-is.

i'll have to look up what a victory garden is before i talk about it. :) i like richardson, too. not just cause he's brown.

"But let us not forget my obsession-- more widespread food growing, the return of the Victory Garden."

I have found a brother. (hope I got the gender right, if not my apologies)

We have forgotten how to feed ourselves!

Pat Logan dijo:

GRVTR

I like Richardson too. I wish he was doing better in the polls.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_garden

The average home in America has less than one week food supply. Disaster greater than that = starvation for most of America after the looters clear out the stores.

Joan Kelly dijo:

Awesome to hear that your voice of fierceness and empathy is on the move, so to speak. I hope you have a good, interesting, ass-kicking (in the non-physical sense) time at the convention and I will be interested to read about your time there.

couldn't be happier to have you participate in what Howie and Vicki and I were doing...and to be mentioned with appreciation here.

Cool.

Yes, I was sweating it. (Still am.) But this group of 17 going to Chicago makes everything worth the effort.

*unless there's a well-placed "Kick Me" sign to justify the physical act ^_^

RC dijo:

Nez: Three piece suit was a joke, sorry. Victory Garden from WWII, in everyone's back yard to make up for rationing in the US.

Laura dijo:

Bill Richardson will be there!?! That's cool - I'm (politically) infatuated with him at the moment. I would love to read an exchange between the two of you.

kick it, ése.
