HAVING HAD MY EYES OPENED and my Schooling fall away, seeing history step forth into the present and feeling my bloodline beating in my chest, what would you have me celebrate on this day?
I hope you are happy today. I hope the sun falls upon your living skin and the conversation between she and it thrills the rest of you. I hope you revel in the spirit of your independence from tyranny, thought control, body control, or any prison of spirit, or forced behavior others have brought upon you. And if you are not yet free, I celebrate the hope that one day you—you and I—can be.
Meanwhile, in the here and now, I am free. All control is illusion. All fear lives in other moments. All confines that chafe my spirit are self-imposed. We are so large, letting down our guard. Peace to you! And—
Happy fireworks day! Happy Simulated Bombs and Gunfire day! Happy Stolen By Force Day! Happy Central Heating in the Home of the Conqueror Day!
