When I'm A Big Kid, I'll Run All Day (Regresara)

Categorized under Parenting | Tags: , , ,

TODAY IS ONE OF MY SOLID WORK DAYS (a day when mi novia has off and can watch Lil 'Nita all day) so that means its a poquito posting day until quizas esta noche. Meanwhile, here is a video that I shot yesterday while at the park with Lil 'Nita, and edited late last night.

I'm feeling that YouTube really compresses the hell out of my videos, and I'm not liking it. Too much definition is lost. I'm going to check out the other services I know are out there and see how they stack up. I hear that YouTube is actually one of the worst, when it comes to compression. And being a media maker, I really value the images as I intend and capture and edit them. I hate going to the trouble and then having some crappy compression ruin it when I'm all done.

That being said, I have posted two links below for less-compressed versions for those who have the interest/ability/time to download them and see them closer to my original capture/conception. There is a 22 MB version and a 99 MB version. They are Quicktime movies. If you use a PC you may need the PC version of Quicktime, which I'm sure can be downloaded very easily and free.

For those who are satisfied with the YouTube version, or otherwise cannot download the other mov.s, I have posted a few pics below that show you some images from the vid without any noticeable compression (beyond the typical JPG compression we are all used to.)

Okay, off to work!

My net connection is terrible. It took me forever to load this but OMG! she gets cuter everyday! I love her expression in pic #4. Like she is mean mugging that guy that said you should "go back to where you are from" at the mini mart. she needs a baby bandana. :)

Don't you love the way toddlers walk? It is as if their feet are really heavy.

oh and that smile...

Have a great work day, nez.

p.s. i read a post from brownfemipower a while back that said that when you upload vids to youtube, youtube then owns the rights of them and can do whatever with them. I don't know how true this is but it is worth looking into while shopping around for another service....

Oh my goodness, these pictures made me laugh out loud. I just love how she looks around in the video, so thoughtful, you can see the gears in her mind just a turnin. My favorite part though is when she's walking around, she falls down but when she stands back up, she grins even more and shakes her fists, like she's celebrating trying again. Brings to mind something you wrote not too long ago about her joy in just walking around grinning. Beautiful!

Awesome. And I was also reminded of your post about what joy it is for 'Nita just to walk.

She's beautiful - I especially love the joy in her face in that last still shot. Thank you for sharing these!

imeem.com has better resolution. And is smaller, so less getting lost amongst the youtube hoardes.

que preciosa es la 'Nita - I love no. 4: she is all "Sir, I find your navigational course quite dubious. Please advise."

She is a little treasure, she deserves better than youtube's crappy codec!
The best quality but with small size I've seen is posting in quicktime using h.264, but you need your own server space.
This works quite well-
Compression: h.264
Quality: Medium
Frame rate: 15
Key frame rate 75
Size: 320x240
Data Rate: Automatic
Prepare for Internet Streaming: Fast Start
Sound:
Format:ACC
Sample Rate: 22.050 kHz
Sample Size 32
Channels: 1
even scaled up to larger proportions the files are comparable to youtube size but way better quality.
I felt tension in the film when you show her regarding the climbing frame/car with all the other kids on it and I like your use of the 3rd person pov, ie showing the person in shot who's pov you are representing, less manipulative more democratic representation. And the sunlight was glorious, happiness.

hey RickB, i really appreciate the words as well as the insightful critique. i guess you didn't read the post too closely, or somehow missed the links (and my writing about the links), but i have do, indeed, have two Quicktime versions uploaded to my own server, in fact, and linked on this page. thanks, tho, for laying out your preferred specs, my friend. i'll try those exact ones sometime and see how they compare.

Ah no, I read and in fact watched the 22 mb QT version (my isp says 1 meg, the old rusty wires say half), I just meant that so far no free youtube-ish outfit offers QT as the preferred codec. Ok it is Apple but they do make it free to both mac and windows. I suppose then the problem is youtube gets a good audience, it has visibilty but I feel the same about it's compression and quality, the colours always seem a bit washed out and it's less sharp, I suppose it is hard considering it has to handle so many different uploaders formats, but I hope they update & improve their codec, that technology stuff does seem to advance every so often or so I've heard.

i think i have found a solution. its not the site (youtube) and its not the quicktime compression. the answer may be found in using Sorenson Squeeze. i got the notion from a cat who is a member of the same camera discussion board i am. dig even ten seconds of this compression: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=benandaimo

still youtube, and shot with the same camera i use. amazing clarity. i'm going to try this soon.

very good quality (clarity on the hairy legs!) I'd be interested to know the settings used (and why/how they work so well), looks like a winner!

kick it, ése.
