Cold as ICE

Categorized under Migra | Tags:

Grenier said state and federal authorities will investigate the death that occurred in ICE custody, but she could not say which agencies would be involved. Officials from the Rhode Island State Police and the state attorney general's office said yesterday that they were not investigating Araujo's death because "Who cares about immigrants having epileptic fits that result in death? This is America! They shouldn't have been here illegally."

Actually, it doesn't matter anymore if you're an immigrant or not. Did you see this?

Definitely,

I covered that at Immigration Orange as well. Malcolm X said it best when he said "we're not Americans we're the victims of America".

This specific case is happening right now, and we have to get authorities, specifically the rhode island attorney general, to investigate this before ICE sweeps another abuse under the rug.

This is happening everyday, but we have a chance to fight back on this one.

I though at first, was this murder or manslaughter? But from the attitudes displayed I think a slow motion one at a time genocide seems correct.

Arrg my blog sucks. The link was broken because of problems with the HTML. Either way here's a new one

I think best way to put ICE on the defensive on this one is to call the Rhode Island Attorney General (RIAG) and the U.S. District Attorney for Rhode Island and pressure them into investigating Araujo's death. The RIAG will say it is a federal matter but Araujo's sister was turned away from the Woonsocket police when she wanted to bring her brother his medication. The Woonsocket police are under the RIAG's jurisdiction. Their contact information is as follows.
