Cop Targeting Raza Busted

Categorized under Chinga la Chota | Tags:

imgA former Cedartown police officer, apparently seeing Hispanic drivers as an easy target for getting extra cash, was sentenced Friday in federal court to more than two years in prison. He must repay each of his victims $2,300. [...]

The stories the victims [told] — all of them Hispanic — were the same. Damiano would make a traffic stop and take the driver's wallet back to his patrol car under the pretense of calling in their information to dispatchers. He would lift cash — just some — from the wallet and then return the wallet. The victims would discover later, sometimes days later, that money was missing, officials said.

Nez,

You might not know this, or your readers might not, but Cedartown, GA is the closest largish town in West Georgia to Carrollton. It's about a 30 minute drive north, just over into the next county.

Carrollton, you'll recall, is where the Latina woman who was beaten by her roommates found herself arrested for simple assault and sent to ICE.

"an old piece of junk" is also referred to in police jargon as a "POSOR" (prounounced poser) The excuse of pulling over a "Piece-O-Shit On the Road" is used to avoid accusations of potential profiling. A cracked lens on a tail-light, a license plate slightly askew or hard to read (dirty)or anything that the officer can define as questionable is their excuse to pull a driver over to the side of the road. This was explained to me by a local police officer. (One of the finer points of "serve and protect" he learned in Police Academy.)

"Ya'll be careful out there" and with a little imagination, you can use this info to your benefit when pulled over.

kick it, ése.
