Don't dream; Act.

Categorized under Raza | Tags: , , , , ,

Jose is a friend of mine, and I met him at YearlyKos. He will come into the story later. We both were members of the Chicago 17, and he was one of three Mexicanos Americanos, us being himself, myself, and Matt O.

Jose's situation is very different than both Matt's and my own, because Matt and I were born here in the USA, and Jose was not. Jose was raised here, but he was born in Mexico. Jose is very committed to the Dream Act, and his commitment is very personal. His blog, mostly about immigration from what I know, is themed on the Dream Act. If you don't know about it, or want to talk about it head on over and visit with Jose, blogroll him, or keep an eye out for him. He is just figuring out the blog thing, so he may not have every piece of finesse down, but he's getting it. That's why we love Jose. He is all willingness and no fear. Offline, I saw it mostly.

He writes me and says "Nez, I made my own blog! But I don't get it. I asked two questions, but nobody has answered."

I visited, and it was a blue blogspot page with one word on top: "immigration." His About Me said, simply "my dream." His first two posts were one sentence questions. This is mi amigo Jose. Free of guile, often believing the best of everyone, happy, and unhesitant to put his energy and heart right out front.

Don't worry. A little time mucking about blogswampia and he'll be sneering just like you and me. (What? Me? Cynical?)
