Gonzo is Gone

FINALLY, the "nation's first Latino attorney general" resigns. Another rat leaving the ship, and I've got to think that between Rove and Gonzales splitting, and really quite early in the second term of the administration, some heavy shit must be about to go down. War with Iran? Investigations? Subpeonas that can't be ignored? Your guess is as good as mine. But still, with all the heat that came his way, where neither Bush nor he would budge, I say...why now? Unless, of course, it's the simple answer: he is running from the impeachment proceedings that were coming his way.
Sure, I say good, but I am disappointed. I am tired of watching these crooks walk away seemingly unsinged. I'm hungry for some damn justice. Some real justice. Not Alberto's brand.
Either way, adios Alberto Gonzales. What an ignominious end (so far!) for a man with such an admirable life story. Grandson of (Mexican) immigrant farmers, son of a hardcore alcoholic, he makes his way to school, works hard and climbs to the big time where he can humiliate and disgrace himself and his people and his family in front of everyone.
Three down? Just a snack. We have at least two more to go. And now we're finally getting to the creamy center. Therein be the prize.

But: we've still got funding for the war, and we've still got the Patriot Act and the July 07 executive order according to which property of antiwar people can be seized ... and yet you're right, it would be great to know what is really going down up there and what the conversation is at the big house.
