"Calling all citizen journalists, visionaries, bloggers and vloggers!"

MTV's Choose or Lose is looking for aspiring journalists to cover the 2008 election via written stories, vlogs and photos.

As part of a collaboration with The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Knight News Challenge, MTV News is looking for one aspiring reporter from every state and Washington, D.C., to be part of our Choose or Lose team. Read more about the program and if you think you have what it takes fill out the application.

TRUE, it is targeted for younger people. Students, even. I doubt I am part of their snazzy hip demographic. Anyway, what do they want with some cat who is always talking about immigrants, and racism, and gets all talky and poetic and can't even throw in a good bar graph now and then? In case I'm wrong, I linked them to my "Oppression" video/collage, some snarky writing on this n that, and filled out the application.

From my submission, here is my reason for why Oregon should be an important state to the Presidential candidate:

We have a lot of moss here in Oregon. Moss is definitely undervalued when it comes to assessing the impact of a Presidential candidate upon the environment. Okay, that's a stretch. But what I mean to say is that Oregon is a place where many people compost. And when they are done composting, they vote. Or bicycle. Either way, there are a lot of people in Oregon. Politicians would do well to remember this. And to compost.

I'm expecting a call any minute!

To post or to compost. That is the question.
