Adults armed with surveillance cameras and remote-control activators watched his every move. One press of a button, and there was no telling where the shock would hit--his arm or leg or, worse, his stomach. All Rob knew was that the pain would be intense.
AMAZING. Just when you think you can't be...well, shocked--to employ a terrible pun at a terrible moment. Autistic, "emotionally troubled," and "mentally retarded" children are being treated this way.
I think it's to make them "better"?

Thanks for sharing this article. Is there anything that can be done to stop this? I mean, everyone's aware of the school but it's like they've given up or they're afraid to say, "hey, these kids may be really dangerous but we shouldn't shock them." Am I reading this right?
Good thing treating people decently and humanely isn't codified, huh? Might actually have to...oh...do it and enforce it. Pain is a powerful instrument when used to control people, but this is a disgusting and ridiculous low for treating children with behavioral problems stemming from mental illness and developmental problems.
Place of last resort. Place of abandonment, pain, desolation, and sadistic external manipulation... How does an unpublished, self-credentialed doctor with no oversight from the AMA or anywhere else, get to run a "school" that fucking SHOCKS CHILDREN? I mean seriously. Fuck the parents. Parents don't own children to the extent that they can defend placing them in a torture kennel.
It's like American society in its most brutal and contained microcosm.

the sad thing is this guy has been around forever. this damn prison/torture institution for kids has been mentioned in so many books from so long ago, so many exposes... and yet most people still don't know and the damn thing STILL HAS NOT BEEN SHUT DOWN.
people refuse to believe this because it's so startling. the last time I mentioned it in conversation a woman kept trying to tell me I was MAKING IT UP or had my facts wrong.
