Una luz dentro de la Sombra

Categorized under Ciencia | Tags: , ,

EARLY TUESDAY there will be a full lunar eclipse.

Tuesday morning, Aug. 28 brings us the second total lunar eclipse of 2007. Those living in the Western Hemisphere and eastern Asia will be able to partake in at least some of this sky show.

The very best viewing region for viewing this eclipse will fall across the Pacific Rim, including the West Coast of the United States and Canada, as well as Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand and eastern Australia. All these places will be able to see the complete eclipse from start to finish.

Europeans will miss out on the entire show, as the Moon will be below the horizon during their mid and late morning hours. [...]

The Moon enters the umbra at 4:51 a.m. EDT (1:51 a.m. PDT). Totality begins at 5:32 EDT (2:52 PDT) and ends after sunrise on the East coast and at 4:22 a.m. PDT.

Hey, cool. Thanks for passing it on, Nezua. Last night in Vermont: an earthshaker of a thunderstorm that blew itself out fierce and fast, leaving veils of wet in the air between me and a blood red moon, low on the horizon. Beautiful.

Same here, there was a blood red moon in the sky. An omen perhaps?

el gusto es mio...i always feel excited about lunar and stellar events...something so rare and big about them, reeks of history and "once in a ._____" type events. i think of that bradbury story where the girl got locked in the locker and forgotten about while the kids went out for recess while the sun shone on a normally always-rainy planet for once in a 700 year stretch or something. or that part in Prince Caspian where his tutor takes him up on the parapet and talks to him about the magic at work in the land, true history, and the planets lining up on that night.

kick it, ése.
