Alarmed

THIS JUST ISN'T the trip for smooth traveling.
Since I had to check out at noon, I just decided to leave early, before ten am. Of course my flight home doesn't leave until five pm. Of course I'm a funloving idiot so me and Kai met up and hung out all damn night. Thought perhaps I could catch up on sleep at the airport, that way at least I would be at the gate if I passed out, and not far away from LaGuardia.
Well. Here I am on standby for an earlier flight at the airport. Seems the fire alarm has gone off....and is going off for about ten minutes now and is slowly driving everyone insane. (Is it? Or just me?) I am now liveblogging the insane-making fire alarm and the multiple coordinated flashing lights. The workers said "Come on, this isn't normal." And then they SPLIT out a grey pair of doors that say CAUTION on a red sign. And we are all still sitting here! I have my thick headphones on, but the sound is still drilling a hole in my brain and a headache...maybe it was there already, I don't know, but I know it's blooming for real.
I still can't figure out why nobody is shutting them off. And we are all sitting around as if there isn't a loud-ass piercing crazy-inducing alarm going off with hyper-bright lights flashing. I feel very nuts, as if perhaps I am the only one who hears and sees them. I'm glad there's another girl with headphones on, at least I can tell myself that she is blocking out the sound.
It really couldn't be more surreal. Well. Perhaps it could. If so, I hope we don't go there.
update: Alarm is now off. Headache in full effect, however.

I truly know how you feel... (felt) There were 6 bomb scares within 2 hours in March at Paris Orly and I was trying to sleep. Kept getting woken up by crazy French guys with foghorns. I still have recurring nightmares. Airports not a good place to catch up on sleep.
