The GOP Hates Your Brown [Black, etc] Ass
Categorized under Corazón , Política Estados Unidos , When the Right is SO wrong | Tags: Democrats, Fear, racism, Republicans
DON'T EVEN IMAGINE the question is up in the air. It is not up in the air. I am not saying every Republican is racist. But the GOP as an organization—how they operate, what fears they dig up, what innuendoes their ads use, the framing their preferred TV networks are known to rely on—is a racist organization. And if they are embracing blacks or "Hispanics' you better check over your shoulder to see if there's a voting machine behind you.
I speak for no group of people. But for myself, the GOP can just stop trying for my vote. They will never have it.
On the other hand, neither will the Democrats unless they begin acting as if they care and stand for what is Right, not what is politically expedient. I'm fed up with that approach. That approach will doom us just as quickly as outright Fear of Other.

And of course they snubbed a debate with a black voter theme:

Why talk to them, when you can suppress them....

Okay, you know: just a pause to say something about this image, which I missed whenever it ran. What to say, though. It's shades of the Intel ad, hopped up on some of the tiredest, most hateful lynching/protect the white women fear-mongering bigotry of history.
This white woman, looking at that ad, thought: "You know, this country should BE so lucky that white people would be made to shut the fuck up for once." Seriously disgusting, this crap - seriously dangerous - seriously deranged - seriously opposed. So yeah. Shutting up now, except to say thanks for keeping this stuff at the forefront, Nezua. Write on.

Isn't it basically a rip off of the (satirically used) gag from Blazing Saddles when Cleavon Little jumps out on the KKK men and asks- where the white women at?

I enjoyed reading Field's take on all this (linked under my name); are people really surprised about the GOP's snub?

There is an article on MSNBC about how the GOP is erasing the gains it has made with Hispanic voters: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20789363/site/newsweek/
I also read an op-ed that had me laughing: "Hispanics can feel right at home in the Texas GOP" http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/editorial/outlook/5133443.html

Juan, I noticed that the writer of the op-ed simply mentioned some of the high-profile Hispanics in the TX GOP (as if that in itself was reason enough for Hispanics to support the TX GOP), but conveniently failed to mention anything that the TX GOP was trying to do *for* Hispanics.
Oh, wait. That's probably because the TX GOP isn't trying to do anything *for* them.
Never mind.
