From the Del Diario Series, entrada #102007:
I think its funny that Comcast even bothers to offer you a phone number where you can call and opt out of having your data collected for advertising purposes... I mean why bother? You are colluding with the government and giving third parties unfettered access to all my calls, recorded and in realtime, you are giving them my emails, I mean what do you think you are doing by offering me an opt-out of my info being collected for advertising purposes? Are you assuaging your conscience? are you pretending you are a Good Company? Fuck off. Vampire wire. That's what you are. Dispense with the headache-sized print and save yourself some paper, just print "We do what we want, and you pay us for it." There are no rights with you. I won't pretend I have any, don't you jerk me around. All of you corporate monster entities out there. I don't trust any of ya, and we ought not to. They use us at every turn. Promise high speed and then you find out that its an offer that runs out in six months whereat you will pay more to stay, sell my info to advertisers, give my private communications to third parties, block peer to peer sharing, forbid negative talk about the company (can you feel me now?), charge me sixty damn dollars a month for this imbalance of power, and I don't even have another choice in this area for cable hookup? It's a scam. I feel like those kids in Stand By Me who went for a cool dip in the pond, and ended up with leeches on their balls. If you want electrical power, if you want access to the "internet" which is just a network of other computers, if you want certain essential services, you have no choice. Where are the competitors? Where is the vaunted Free Market? It seems to have left us a monopoly here. There's really no way out. Try and build your own power system and see how much Freedom comes knocking down your door.
It's almost time to get off the grid. I do not like being used. I haven't had a cell phone in weeks and I'm still alive and in one piece. Dya think I can't live without ya, honey? Bad bet. ![]() AND SO Nezua tries to whittle away at the various projects upon his table. Oh, and sorry about the negative start. As you may know, in the mornings, I often am inspired by the window next to me as I write. But here in the Pacific North West, we now approach winter, which means it gets rainier and rainier. A few days in a row now it's been rainy, overall. And I do love rain in many cases. I will walk in it, sing in it, not fear it, not run to an umbrella. But when the light begins peeling back the day's veil and her face is gray and cold right at the start, I don't often find it inspiring. But there are some fun things happening right now. I don't want to overlook that. • A project that I've been participating in, seeding, organizing with others on is moving forward bit by bit. It's a virtual project (tho not to be limited to the virtual space in function), and there's a lot to be excited about. I've dropped hints for a while, and I'm sorry about that. Sometimes it's not been a hint dropping, but me even thinking it out. Anyway, more on that when it's time. I see what happens when you have good ideas and spread them around indiscriminately. People snatch them up with a mirrored alacrity! So!
• Pacifica Radio got in touch, they want me to do a weekly film review for a month or two. So when I get more details on this, I'll leave info. • Oh, I was pretty surprised when a midwestern college got in touch with me and wants to show that "Oppression" video I slapped together on YouTube as part of some show they are holding at the college, I'm a little vague on that, so I'll have to dig into it a bit. As I said, I am busy with this video for a day or so. • I am now drinking a fine, sweet, black and strong taza de café sent to me by a blogmigo (RC) in Puerto Rico! And let me tell you, this Alto Grande is superb. Frealz. Rich, full bodied, oh you know, all those words they train us with on the TeeVee. It's delish! And I am soon to write a thank you and strap it to a snail. I actually am doing that with a few notes, some I owe from last summer when a number of amig@s helped me out in a few ways. I have not forgotten! And I have started. Don't go dying on me before I send them, por favor. ![]() All right! The sun is out. I have to run. |

Hey, Nez, enjoy the sun and the cafe {aren't they really the same thing?}and forget any note to me, you are way too busy. Now that you have reviewed the Alto Grande I'll send some more.
How could one possibly live under gray skies without caffeine?
Good luck with all the projects and don't forget that besides the fame you better get rich too.

Nez, I haven't read your entire post, me skimming and watching Dr Who, BBCAmerica, sorry, I did however do 12 hours of football today. And I haven't watched much MTV, i.e., none for most of 20 years. But I really think that you had a most brilliant idea for video 2 in a recent post. I think you should go undercover looking for faux tequilas in various bars. You hit on the booze snobbery, you hit on the craftsmen/artisan aspect, you hit on the silliness of 20 somethings in bars, you can talk about music, ageism superiority and bars, bartenders, bar patrons and wait staff support. And you can bring in the proud Mexican into the entire thing. And, you can wear a zoot suit.
If you get the real gig, I think you should try to go through the Mexican Govs actual class on tequila; and barring that, being a fake tequila inspector has hours of satire within it. I do realize that you would get it to give vlogs about the great northwest and politics.
Anyway, best of luck to you. The zoot suit idea still makes me grin.

I've always wondered if rain would be something that I grow tired of since we get so little of it here. I've heard from friends in New England that get the blues during winter because of the dark and lack of color (everything is white with snow). What a different experience we all have, living in such an expansive country.
The taza sounds good, I can almost conjure up the richness of the scent. Can't wait for the morning.
