Maybe we need more Gore on TV
Categorized under Política Estados Unidos | Tags: Al Gore
AL GORE wins the Nobel Peace Prize! Felicidades, Mista Gore. You shame that tiny man who bumped you out of line for la casa blanca yet again by working hard and seeing far, and being rewarded for it—rather than having everything from ideology to office stolen for you or handed to you.
Gore's possible run for President is so palpable in its seeming inevitability that I can SMELL the campaign headquarters' new rug swaths being waved through the air. Fresh coffee. (I think coffee invades all my daydreams). It's fun to imagine.
I need more coffee.
UPDATE:
What politics has become requires a level of tolerance for triviality and artifice and nonsense that I have found in short supply.
Perhaps not the best campaign slogan. Great quote, though. Hey, imagine that? A President whose quotes weren't only collected for goofy Yogi-Berra type calenders? Sci-Fi, baby.

So basically after a coup in 2000 you got Bush, a moron, when you could have had a guy whose abilities then enable him to win an Oscar and a Nobel prize. I mean his actual policies aside, just from the point of view of the person and their capabilities,...bummer dude. Blair would have been Gore's poodle which would mean the worst he did was, erm, praise Futurama because Al's daughter wrote for it??!!?
Or maybe not, who knows what wheels were turning in the dark, but would Gore have hit Iraq, I wonder. Absent big oil/contractor nature of Bushco, but he would still be heading an empire, hmmm.
I agree, his life after 2000 has made him a much better man, would that survive the office, is it even possible it can, is this thing a runaway or can it be turned?

I think he needed those defeats to make him the man he is today. He's a pop icon, which is crazy to say since he was known as wry and boring back in his campaign (sadly, that was a republican talking point.) congrats to al gore, and make all your truths inconvenient to them ...

Over at No Quarter they had an interesting discussion thread about if Gore had been allowed to take office after he had actually won the election. I love Al, I pray he'll run, but why on earth would he want to?
Yea the Nobel, an Oscar and an Emmy for his new tv station. Ya think he's gonna do a musical so he can win a Tony too? I think it's great he won the Nobel. An added bonus was all the reich-wingers heads exploding.

I'm glad you are enthusiastic about the Gore possibilities for the Presidency, Nez. But it seems not too many others think he would run, even though they would like that.
I also think he would win again, but can't make a call on whether he will actually run. There's something to hope for.

i wouldn't blame him for not running. but if life were a story, there's no doubt he would. the setup leads us right there.

I don't know..."if I were making the movie" (jeje) I would end it with him on the sidelines, maybe by the door of the WH press room or sitting on chair as the new President is sworn in or gives his first speech to the press, and then have him walk away.

ZOMG I HAVE THAT CALENDAR. (October quote: "I know what I believe. I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe -- I believe what I believe is right." Th-the-th-the-th-the-that's all, folks!)
I would not put Gore in the president seat right now. I'd give it 8 more years. Particularly because his dedication and reputation in other areas are showing him to be more well-rounded, and placing a electoral campaign in the middle of it will trivialize all his work to this point.
Besides, I feel like the clamor surrounding him joining the Dem ticket is straight out of high school. "You just scored the touchdown to win the Homecoming; you should totally run for Prom King now!"

Sorry people, but you seem to idealize Al Gore.
I guess that after Bush anyone seems as improvement. But Gore?
You seem to forget that he was part of administration that was pushing NAFTA.
Bah, read more here:

Furthermore, he was Bill’s VP when they were dropping depleted uranium and cluster bombs all over Serbia, bombing TV stations and pharmaceutical companies.
I enjoy just reading your blog, but this time I had to comment. Part of US public (and not just US) seems to have rather short memory.

true, of course. its easy to idealize a thinking, talking human after being forced to recognize an imp as your president for years. i didnt mean to say his hands were clean or that he was the perfect leader. thanks.
