ANOTHER SCHOOL SHOOTING:

A 14-year-old gunman opened fire at a high school in Cleveland, Ohio Wednesday, shooting at least four people, authorities said.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said four people were shot in the incident, the latest in a recent string of high-profile shootings, but would not confirm media reports that the young shooter had been shot dead.

"They have the shooter," he said at a hasty press conference held outside the school.

Two adults and two students were shot, Jackson said. Another student hurt her knee while trying to flee.

"All the children were in stable, good condition," Jackson told reporters.

The two adults were in an "elevated" condition, he said.

Local media reported the 14-year-old student was frustrated after being suspended from school on Tuesday.

He came to school Wednesday morning and roamed through the hallways with a gun in each hand and shots were heard on two different floors.

Some students and teachers rushed outside at the sound of the shots while others hid in closets and under desks.

"14 year old gunman"? Makes it sound like shooting people was his occupation. He's a kid. Face it. We are fucking up the kids' heads with this world we are better and better at rationalizing. Kids.

Damn.

A phrase I've been saying for many years now: "This country is stressed out."

It affects all generations, classes, races, you name it. It's only gotten worse after the Decider's second reign of terror commenced in 2004, and even worse than that (who thought it was possible?) after the impotence of the Dem-led Congress was exposed for all to see.

A society that allows its government to bully the world unabated through various forms of violence is basically asking for the same thing on its streets. Very sad that the noise is loud enough for even our youngest generations to respond in such horrific ways.

Well said Nezua and Manny. I've always thought that young people are a mirror reflecting back to us what is happening in our culture. I can only wish we would pay attention to what they're trying to tell us - but that's the way its always been.

I remember being 13/14 in 67/68 (yeah, now you can figure out how old I am) and being too young and protected in my white conservative suburb to really know what was going on in the world. But I also remember feeling the tension to my bones - it was palpable, but I didn't have words or thoughts for it. Listening to the music of those days brings all those feelings back.
