Typical racist victim-blaming rhetoric, asserting that white people can't help themselves from being racist because anecdotally speaking people of color don't behave themselves with the appropriate level of polite servitude and pliant self-effacing socio-cultural accommodation. I won't say anything about whether this dude really knows the Mexican people (for example, does he know that some Mexican Americans take their morning coffee with goat milk? heheh sorry, it's just too funny...), but I can easily say that he has absolutely no understanding of the structure of white male supremacism and the people who run it, benefit from it, and violently protect it from ideological challenge and/or practical subversion.

I wouldn't be too hard on them (but then, I'm an unapologetic gringo)... but I would suggest they learn their Spanish. "Raza" is not the same as "race" (as English speakers use the word), and that seems to be the person's entire complaint.

Yeah, What is Gringo Nada? Or did the person mean Gringo Nalgas? I am unaware of either un-nice holiday, but the second one sounds more interesting.

I find these kinds of comments the most difficult to "unpack" and respond to; they're so filled with assumptions and so completely self-centered (I mean that literally and not insultingly). It's all about "you do it first and then maybe I'll feel safe enough and not so scared of you that I'll do something nice. But you first!" It comes from fear and ignorance. It comes from thinking one's own feelings are virtually all there is.

I'd rather deal with outright hatred - at least you know what's there confronting you. This evokes in me a sickening mixture of pity, anger and contempt. I think I'll have to drink a glass of gringo nada to feel better. (It IS a soft-drink for indigestion, isn't it??).

Whether or not a person means well (and I honestly don't even know what that means to who, anymore), when you write something that has me rolling my eyes at whitey by the end of the first sentence, you're doing more than trying and failing-but-with-a-good-thought.
