La Migra Trying to Start War With México

Categorized under Derechos Humanos , Frontera , Gobierno , Planeta , Política Estados Unidos , Violencia | Tags: , ,

SAN DIEGO - The Border Patrol says its agents were attacked nearly 1,000 times during a one-year period along the Mexican border, typically by assailants hurling rocks, bottles and bricks. Now the agency is responding with tear gas and powerful, pepper-spray weapons, including firing into Mexico.

The counteroffensive has drawn complaints that innocent families are being caught in the crossfire.

"A neighbor shouted, 'Stop it! There are children living here," said Esther Arias Medina, 41, who on Wednesday fled her Tijuana, Mexico, shanty with her 3-week-old grandson after the infant began coughing from smoke that seeped through the walls.

A helmeted agent on the U.S. side said nothing as he stood with a rifle on top of a 10-foot border fence next to the three-room home that Arias shares with six others.

"We don't deserve this," Arias said. "The people who live here don't throw rocks. Those are people who come from the outside, but we're paying the price."

Witnesses in Arias' hardscrabble neighborhood described eight attacks since August that involved tear gas or pepper spray, some that forced residents to evacuate.

The Border Patrol's top official in San Diego, Mike Fisher, said his agents are taking action because Mexican authorities have been slow to respond. When an attack happens, he said, American authorities often wait hours for them to come, and help usually never arrives.

"We have been taking steps to ensure that our agents are safe," Fisher said.

Mexico's acting consul general in San Diego, Ricardo Pineda, has insisted that U.S. authorities stop firing onto Mexican soil. He met with Border Patrol officials last month after the agency fired tear gas into Mexico. The agency defended that counterattack, saying agents were being hit with a hail of ball bearings from slingshots in Mexico.

U.S. officials say the violence indicates that smugglers are growing more desperate as stepped-up security makes it harder to sneak across the border. The assailants try to distract agents long enough to let people dash in the United States.

The head of a union representing Border Patrol employees said the violence also results from the decision to put agents right up against the border, a departure from the early 1990s when they waited farther back to make arrests. [...]

Argumedo, 31, said she shouted in protest across the border at a helmeted agent on Dec. 8 after opening her front door to a cloud of tear gas. "He said: 'I'm the policeman of the world and I can do what I want.'"

Benito Arias said his 19-year-old sister-in-law fainted during an apparent tear gas attack about two weeks ago. The woman, five months pregnant, was given oxygen at the hospital.

—Border Patrol fires tear gas into Mexico

BORDER ENFORCEMENT is, by its very nature, already a war. On nature, on the respiration of the planet as she draws her creatures this way and that, back and forth, over and through. Stop making war on people and on children and on animals. Scale back and destroy your horrible assault upon our planet and nature. Stop scarring and cutting the ebb and flow of the ecology with your ignorance and fear and greed.

Said plainly, back your ass up off the border and stop firing weaponry into places where people live you pinche fascist scum.

I just saw this on msn.com and had to come here to vent my anger. This is sick. Responding to stones and bottles by shooting chemical weapons at houses with children? What's next? Bulldozing houses?

honestly, amigo...if this barbaric and backward mentality keeps up on so many levels, i'm afraid of what's next.

I can see that happening, I mean they can always claim a "security zone" around the fence...yep they will probably throw in a moat and a few land mines if Minutemen had their way.

Historically, preemptive strikes against suspected rock throwers might be the next logical illogic absurdity. Incursions across the border "to insure the safety of Homeland Security employees who are only here to protect the safety of all Americans." Of course everyone south of the border will be defined as a potential rock thrower and any collateral injuries or casualties will only be to those who are suspected to sympathize or support the suspected rock throwers, so those casualties will be totally explained/justified in the MSM press.

The groundwork for the PR campaign is being formed: "The agency's top official in San Diego, Mike Fisher, said agents are taking action because Mexican authorities have been slow to respond. When an attack happens, he said, American authorities often wait hours for them to come, and help usually never arrives."

The next stage of PR, after the incursion, is "The Mexican government, because of their inability to respond, forced us to protect our own citizens. We, of course, honor and respect the sovereignty of every nation, but reserve the right to protect the people of the US from being attacked across the border."

Then come the bulldozers. Ya' see....some countries are more sovereign than others.

The chimpazoids will claim that the rock-and-slingshot attacks make plain the need for a wall along the border.

Well, SURE they do.

A wall to keep la migra from shooting at kids and houses, maybe. Because the shooting and pepper spray are clearly the greater threats here.

This sounds SO like the Palestinian/Israeli stand-off, doesn't it? There are so many attacks on human rights in this country now, it's impossible to keep up with it all. Which is the game plan, apparently. Bring it on. It is a good day to die.

What an image. Helmeted, rifle-toting man atop a ten foot fence, saying nothing as innocent families flee chemical weapons. The "policeman of the world." Horrifying, horrifying, horrifying.

"BORDER ENFORCEMENT is, by its very nature, already a war. On nature..."

Yes, we all know that animals care not a bit about protecting territory from each-other. When one lion meets another, they always welcome each-other with open paws. If you are going to attempt to commit the naturalistic fallacy (saying that what is natural is right), at least get the reality of nature right.

i'm not committing any fallacy, unhappy human. and you are putting words in my mouth. did i say animals did not make war on each other? it is only humans, however, who do it for reasons not related to need, but greed.

i hope you grow in time. or find more peace. or get the fuck off my blog.

Peejgoober aptly describes the make-up of your cerebral cortex. Good for us to know the enemy is, for the most part, like him a bunch of dip-shit, know-nutin's who think they know it all. He is the epitomy of the lowest level of knowledge and very easy to outwit.

Border enforcment through force is nothing more than the manifestation of the occupying force's use of whatever it deems necessary to hold on to an area it knows is disputable. Corporate fat cats have almost hijacked the power to govern from the people, as described in the U.S. Consitution (and which document I truly cherish). Their profits are what drive such animalistic approaches. Their propagandistic machinery, including the likes of faux news and television, easily manipulates minds like peejmocos and creates a compliant population. Pee brain could never understand nor see anything wrong with the fact that the real profits are only realized by the likes of Dick Cheney and company who then feed peanuts to their gullible shareholders.

Well guys, this is the result of failed policy on both sides of the Border. BTW, Calderon was in town and promised to give employment and aid to the deported Mexicans. And if you believe THAT, then I guess you believe in the tooth fairy.

Thanks to the Mex files for turning me on to this site.

hiya marjorie, good to see ya.

i guess it's the result of a number of things. one of those being a militarized zoned known as a 'border.' and idiotas who think they are "the policeman of the world" being given weapons. and other things, history tells us a lot, if we go back all the way to how things first got nasty between Mexico and this land now known as the "USA," which of course, was once half Mexico.

Military tactics-it's the USA's dirty best kept little secret...psst none of us were supposed to ever "wake-up",and much less make noise over any of these vicious moves against humanity.
It is very unfortunate that people that have no interest or even physical ties (family) to the "Otro Lado" are the first to judge and are also usually the first to make magnificent moves to close themselves in. They build walls and they live in "fenced" communities.
These people are very sad souls that have only one tracked minds...from the bank to the pentagon and back.

Man, between this and the whole thing with the LAPD going apeshit at that migrant march, you have to wonder how big the rocks that get thrown are really.

I mean, with all this teargas and various other chemical weapons they're using, you'd think they'd be able to afford a few helmets. I mean, I know rocks are like really scary and shit but they're still pretty effectively useless against a hardhat or some other kind of helmet. Unless the migrants are using mothertrucking catapults and trebuchets.

Of course considering most such medieval weapons of war are several dozen feet long and made of solid oak, you'd think it'd be a bit easier to find migrants than it currently is. you'd just have to *secretly constructs a medieval weapon of war and parks it outside the white house* arrest everyone who's got a medieval weapon of war outside their crib.

i think by now we just have to let the sirens go off everytime some pinche idiota stands atop any kind of structure and claims to be *SOMETHING* OF THE WORLD, MA!!! that's like a dead giveaway that whoooops, their fantasy is non-negotiably welded to their everyday life. like, in a scary way.

En cuanto a las pedradas vs. gas lacrimogeno...diantres! Se ponen medio locos los gringos. Bastante desproporcionada la reaccion.
Pero por otro lado, para que andan tirandoles piedras?
Incidente internacional? Pues funciona de ambos lados el argumento. Pero quiero suponer somos mas maduros.

No doubt "us citezen" thinks he can tell who's legal and who isn't by the color of their skin, the accent they have (or maybe don't have), or perhaps by seeing what condiments they put on their lunch.

It's nothing but naked racism. You don't see these loons agitating for a fence along the Canadian border, even though it's a hell of a lot longer than the Mexican border. And don't forget! People up north are extra-pale! And they either speak a strange language or have a strange accent! And they put GRAVY on their FRIES! Horrors! We must build a wall AT ONCE!

kick it, ése.
