yeah...i don' tknow that i can condescend tooo much. i mean we are all capable, thats for sure. and i have my moments. but i just lived there for so long, it seemed. in a place where people talked down to you cuz of your size or age or whatever. and i guess its the same lens that made me able to be a successful (in terms of rapport) as an adolescent counselor...about about 27?

i do have my own ideas for what i want to feature. i wont completely be following the MTV demographic around...but lately as i thought about the whole "youth" aspect i can't stop remembering how many ideas and insights i had about the world when i was younger...and they were true ones. and they ran counter to the everyday discourse. i'm sure you remember what that feels like. back then, that felt like what was part of what was crushing me as a "problem kid." that sickness and bullshit and nonsense seemed to be on center stage...and so many answers staring people in the face.

now...we know as big ole grownups how Complex life is and all...its not THAT easy. but still. it may not happen this way, but i am actually excited to drill into some populations' and find the voices that are not getting play. as well as finding ways to feature things i just think are plain important to feature. i dont know. its pretty wide open.

I have returned to work after a month hiatus, and I am just now getting the opportunity to catch up on my blog reading, as I am too poor to afford internet tubes at home. My job (located in an institute of higher ed.) allows me to go where I want on the internet, except for xxx sites, and that's fine with me. If it wasn't for their leniency, I would not know about or have access to the progressive blog-o-verse.
I told several members de mi familia about your site almost a year ago, but those poor mexicans don't have or care about the internet. I had hoped someone back home was connected so they could viajar con usted, pero ellos tienes nada. They just have cable tv. See ya later, Jeffe, I'll be back.

i hear you. thus...why i want to get away from purely college population demographic (though that is cool, too for some things, as you may see soon) and go elsewhere. this state is BIG. and there are a lot of populations out there. and many who dont get to college, don't read blogs, don't get the Tubes n Trux, or get heard. i'm excited about finding them. we'll see what happens. i have lots of ideas. but it could go anywere.

I was a bit surprised that, even after editorial approval, you were even able to post any of your MTV-Knight v/blogs on your on own site. (I miscalculated MTV's possessiveness) You've certainly got another home if you want one. 2 cents plus 2 cents adds up eventually.

oh, no, MTV is all about spreading the media as long as it is in their player. again, embed code is here...you just pop that anywhere you want the player to show up. you can center it, too. next week i hope to have something more substantial up, so if i'm misunderstanding you, email me and we'll hash it out. i'm all about putting the player up everywhere i can, por supuesto. and thank you.

Remember all too well, yes. That you do too is good. Granted, I am about your age so I may be biased here, but I think your having been there and being able to recall how that felt so keenly ("crushing" is right) shows through in the video and makes the presentation work. It's REAL--no put-ons, no head-patting.

I'm so excited that you got this and you're doing it! I can't wait to see where else you go with it and what else you do.

Especially loved the message -- I very much want to know what young folks want, what they're thinking. Not always so easy to figure out what they're saying because they see things so new, they see the future as commonplace where I see it as complicated.

you know--just wondering here--is there a possibility to get a transcript of this or otherwise make it accessible for the hearing impaired? The reason I ask is because I, myself, have been trying to find ways to do that within my *own* blogging after having talked to so many people--I think it would be really amazing if you could find some way to negotiate that--bringing on all the hearing impaired youths--

or, maybe even do something like translate to spanish through a transcript???? No se if that's possible, but i'm all inspired and shit (even tho i'm all 'young' at 30 something!)!!!

funny how our idea of "young" changes, eh? you do seem "young" at 30! and once that would've sounded so old to me.

i dont know that i have the means, bfp...i mean, you know, aside from just writing it down and posting text with it. which i could do if you need me to.

About ticker for hearing impaired: once in my net wanderings I stumbled upon such a ticker in the Democrats spanish version pages, in the speeches videos. Don´t know how the tech-thingie works but was ok, por si te sirve.

And how small this world is! Knght Foundation. Just last semester our professor was telling us about it and how we should apply with our crazy ideas. hmmm Maybe next year. Maybe.
