Lakotah Declare Liens on Government-Held Land

AND MAKE IT CLEAR that they don't have beef with the citizens of the USA, but with the government, itself. And that they are not only withdrawing from the treaties and reclaiming sovereignty, but also initiating actions to reclaim the land.
Following up on this amazing happening posted on December 20, here is the January 1st Lakotah Notice to All Foreign Governments and Private Owners of Real Estate within the Republic of Lakotah:
TO: The United States of America; The States of: Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska; The County and Municipal Governments Operating within the Republic of Lakotah; and All Private Owners of Real Estate within the Republic of Lakotah
Lakotah, through its government, have appointed representatives to withdraw from all the treaties with the United States of America.
Lakotah, through such representatives, have formally withdrawn from all agreements and treaties with the United States of America. The reinstitution of our freedom and independence is found in law.
Lakotah has reclaimed sovereignty as a nation and over its traditional lands.
Despite many years of repeated bad faith on the part of the United States government towards the Lakotah People, the Lakotah hold no animosity toward the American people, most of whom have had no part in the actions of their government. We wish to deal with the American people in good faith and in a win-win manner.
While we have the right to impose liens on all of the real estate in our country, we prefer to come to resolutions with you all with out resorting to such measures. Accordingly, at this time, we are only declaring liens on real estate held by governments foreign to the Republic of Lakotah, but not on real estate held by private parties.
The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America and the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties substantiate this freedom.
Lakotah welcomes the opportunity to meet and discuss this matter. We are in the process of scheduling meetings and will issue public invitations. Should you desire input with regard to scheduling these meetings, please contact us at the above.

You'd think this would be newsworthy, eh? Even if only to discuss such an age that we now live in, with such events that people would do all they could to separate themselves from the government and all it stands for and all it has wrought and is wreaking. This should be discussed in Social Studies classes, it should be assigned as current events homework, it touches on so many issues, and opens up the door to talk very earnestly about our nation's past...and how the past won't stay in the past, once unresolved injustice is brought to bear. And why it is that we must stop committing injustices upon the world, for you can only stack up so many before the whole pile falls on top of you.

A story that is equal parts "woo!" and "what's a lien?" (and after wiki'ing it, I'm surprised the media hasn't taken up that angle either, liens are very nearly taxes, and I wonder what unimaginable threat of force has been utilized to keep all the libertarians from putting on a fresh set of diapers, knuckling over to their ickle libertarian monkey-tricycles and taking to the street in protest of this attempt by the Lakotah Nation to abuse themselves in this uncivil and totally unproductive refusal to be screwed over any more).
And if any Eddie Izzard fans are wondering, the Lakotah do in fact have a flag, so they're covered in that regard.

Liens are legal "holds" on properties. In other words, as long as you have a lien on a property, it can not be sold, and if it is, you get first whack at the profits (thats what a legal education gets you, the ability to answer trivial pursuit questions!).

This could potentially mean something more if the leaders of the "Republic of Lakotah" actually had standing, that is if they had been elected or chosen through whatever practice the Lakotah use. This is akin to a militia in the middle of Michigan declaring independence, which is perhaps why the media does not care.
We could all certainly use a history lesson, but I question if this new "American revolution" (witty? they can have it) is the appropriate vehicle. But then again I think we should dissolve the whole reservation system so go figure.

Um no, that is too much like facing the actually reality that some Americans are not all that particular about things done in their name either inside or outside the country! Information like this challenges the idea that perhaps we are not THAT SPECIAL, perhaps we are not the shining city on the hill, but just like any other city with its share of intractable problems and occasional strengths!
