UMX! Now Fatter, Longer, and Uncut.

Categorized under Blogando | Tags: , , ,

THERE HAVE BEEN a few times that your gracious host has actually listened to feedback from the lovely and motley horde that make his comment threads some of the most intelligent on the Intranix. One time was when a reader implied (on another blog) that my having a small font as part of my design was a sign that I was the equivalent of a restaurant refusing to have handicap access. Rather than argue endlessly that you can always change the size of fonts on your own browser page (the response I initially offered), I went about the business of providing multiple stylesheets to accomodate that reader...who I don't think reads the blog anyway! But it doesn't matter if they do, because a great number of people have claimed to be made very happy by this work I did. And I'm happy I listened. Because my blog ONLY GROWETH MORE VIRILE!

Another request I've fended off from time to time is that I should provide full feeds to my posts, rather than the snippets I do. And my response is that I don't care for that because as all us feed-savvy peeples know, you can arrange your preferences in your feedreader in such a way that you can see, via a red mark and whatnot, all the edits a blogger makes subsequent to the initial publishing of a post. And I don't like that. It feels to me as if someone can reach into the past and spy on me.

But alas, the request will not die a peaceful death. So mark the day, and thank José, for the UMX blog now offers full length RSS feeds. [James Brown shout].

Yay! This makes me very happy, because when I am in a hurry, I just read everything in my feedreader, which displays content lightning fast compared to the time it takes to load up a webpage on my pathetically slow connection. I'll mark the interesting posts to come back to later to check out comments, but unless I've got a glut of spare time, I usually end up skipping the snippet-only posts.

Estoy de acuerdo, this was a good decision. I'm not tech-savvy enough to look at all the red marks, and why would I care anyway? I'm not a third-grade teacher.
