The Giddy and Greasy Gatlin

Categorized under Palabras | Tags: , ,

IT STRIKES ME that so many people who last year giddily lumped in all the Republicans under one ugly idea or umbrella of derision are just as ready to do it to people on their own "side," the moment there is a contest. That's a part of why I don't trust labels. Or "sides." Before, the hate was (ostensibly) for Republithugs or Repukes or some other such nasty name. But see how easily it can change to "Obamanut" or "Obamanite" or "Glassy Eyed Kool Aid Sippin Obamabot." (It feels to me as if there is more derision for Obama supporters than Clinton supporters but perhaps this is due to my own preference?). It's like nobody misses a beat in the Hate Parade. Swing that gatlin right around and fix it on the person you were just laughing with. Sides? We're loaded and firing already. At somethin'. That's good enough. We don't need no stinkin' sides.

Maybe the issue is that we think there need to be only 2 sides. Sometimes I wonder if we're not "hating" enough. Then again, I understand what you mean.

Looks like we got ourselves our very own circular firing squad. Quite a few sites I've frequented for years are so pro one side or the other, so anti one side or the other, and just generally acting like four year olds fighting over a toy. They won't be getting any site hits from me for quite awhile.
