Three Missiles Interrogate Albert

TERRORISTS STRIKE SOMALIA.

MOGADISHU, Somalia - Pentagon officials said Monday the United States launched an air strike in Somalia to go after a terrorist suspect.

In the strike early Monday, Somali police said three missiles hit a Somali town held by Islamic extremists, destroying a home and seriously injuring eight people.

A Pentagon official said the U.S. military was going after an al-Qaida suspect in the town. As yet, there is no word on whether the suspect was hit. [...]

A local official told Reuters that the missile was fired by a U.S. aircraft. "Two U.S missiles hit a house in Dobley early this morning," one local politician, who asked not to be named, told the wire service by telephone, adding that shrapnel from the missiles had been found.

"The town is very tense. People have started fleeing because they fear there might be more attacks."

"We woke up with a loud and big bang and when we came out we found our neighbor's house completely obliterated as if no house existed here," a resident of the town, Fatuma Abdullahi, told The Associated Press. "We are taking shelter under trees. Three planes were flying over our heads."

Poor Somalia. They just happen to be geography that the US thirsts for, and thus the introduction of our good ole Pal who always works in line with the interests of our government's most powerful figures, Albert Qaida.

Ya gotta love the pretext. Sole Superpower™ fires three missiles into a house because of a single suspected "Al Qaida" member.

Wow, are these BadGuys® spooky powerful! With all her might and money and technology and smarts, the USA doesn't even trust regular policing or intelligence methods anymore. Al "I Popped Democracy" Qaida shows up and we begin firing massive payloads into residential areas. I'm so happy my government is protecting me from the scary and nebulous monster network looming everywhereallthetime. Mmmm. The Warm Safeness is gooey and sweet.

As with Iraq in 2003, the US has cast this as a war to curtail terrorism. The real goal of course is to gain a direct foothold in another highly strategic and oil rich region by installing a client regime in Somalia. The US had already been violating the UN arms embargo on Somalia by supporting the warlords who drove out the UN peace-keepers in 1993 by killing 18 US soldiers, in order to push out the Islamists. That effort failed and an Ethiopian invasion remained the only way to oust a group with popular support.
