Flamenco Friday, the Polish Edition

Categorized under Música | Tags: , , , , , ,

HOY I bring you our occasional dose of Flamenco but this time played and danced by Poles! As we know, Flamenco originated in Andalucia, Spain through the blending of cultures—Moors, Jews, Gypsies, and Spaniards, so it seems to make sense to continue the blend. Here is Tangos Rompeserones by Moraito played by Przemyslaw Haluszczak.

Traditionally we might focus on the dancer a bit more, but this video was created to highlight the guitar work of Haluszczak. It's beautifully shot, and I really love the red and the black and of course the sound and visuals. Enjoy the blending of many times and cultures and peoples into this moment of music and rhythm, amig@s!

Ahhh... the mixing of musical cultures is a beautiful thing!

I listen to our awesome community radio in Dallas, Tejas (KNON 89.3 the Voice of the People - owned by ACORN!) I listen often to Mexican music, conjunto and Tejano music especially. Then on Sundays, i get in my car, listen to a little of what i think is polka-influenced Tejano, until the voices come in and i remember it's Sunday, and it's the Polka hour run by local Czeck and Polish immigrants!
It tricks me every time! i mean, what kind of place is this when people from different cultures LISTEN TO THE SAME MUSIC!?!?! A great place!

Thanks as always for the links Nez!

no sweat! love what you said. and also, in that line, the corrido is often played to polka timing, so...there is crossover there.

kick it, ése.
