Let's Do This

Nezua and crew have graciously invited me to guest post here at the UMX blog. I figure that before I bust up in here with all sorts of shenanigans and hijinks I should introduce myself.
Hey, Y'all! I'm Kevin.
That was easy, but I suppose doesn't really say much, now does it? So, who am I? Well, my main blogging residence is at A Slant Truth, where I regularly blog against bullshit and intolerance, interspersed with musings on popular culture, music, and poetry. In my spare time, I'm a graduate student in English literature/American Studies. I should add that I'm also quite the computer nerd enthusiast, which always wigs people out: “Wait, you're an English major who can build a computer and code PHP?” Well, it's like the saying goes: “code is poetry.”
One area of blogging and internet use in general that I'm interested in is eActivism and open source technology. I believe that the internet is a wonderful resource for creating social change and justice in the real world, and that the open source model is the best way for activists to harvest the resources that the internet provides to effect such change. I'll probably write a post or two here on the subject, but don't worry, I won't get all super-technical on y'all. When it comes down to it, I'm all about the activism.
So there it is: me in a nutshell. Since I brought up eActivism, I'd like to end this short little intro by pointing everyone out to two online projects that I will be participating in and hope that those of you so inclined will participate in as well. The first is the In solidarity: Global Day for Darfur blogging action on 13 April started by Danielle at modern Musings. The second is the Angry Black Women's Carnival of Allies. Both are great initiatives. Check 'em out.
Thanks Nezua for inviting me into your space. I look forward to many wonderful conversations here.
