Nezua Cured of Political Inebriation!
Categorized under Race for '08 | Tags: Clinton, Obama, Power to the People
AWESOME! I'm finally freed from the grip of this primary. I just felt it drain away from me all at once. Overload and system dump. I no longer care who wins, I no longer am emotionally invested, I no longer have hope that either one will really represent any noticeable change! Whew. What a relief. Seriously. Free to return to my old realistic and cynical self. Cut loose from the TVesque tractor beam of the manufactured horse race back and forth and the (oh so endearing) illusion that filthy-rich elitists and opportunists can affect the good I want to see happen in any given day, time, or place. Hell, I even think I now hate all of the candidates the same! That feels oddly beautiful.
So thank you left blogosphere or warbloggers or MSM or Barack or Hillary or Bill or Billo or Huffpost or NYTimes or New York Post—I don't even know to whom I owe this liberation. But know that it is a gift and I do appreciate it.

'Mano isn't it great to free yourself from the Matrix by taking the red pill? I had already made that declaration long time ago. But like you always say, we all find our way in our own time, following the path we created for ourselves and no one else.

I have zero political energy right now. Reading a dead serious, biblically-based argument for why Obama is not the Antichrist just sucked the last bit out of me.

Welcome back to the land of living, Nez! I can practically see your relief pouring off the pixels forming your words on my monitor. Feels like...spring? Blockages cleared and new energies opening up? Something like that. Or maybe that's just the sunny weather here that I'm lovin. Hey I think this means it's time for us to hit the town again. ;-)
Atlasien, yeah you just slayed me with that second sentence too...that was good.

Letting go of the election sure sounds tempting. I mean I have a bad feeling that I'm going to be let down one way or another anyway, so maybe if I start pulling the Band-Aid (nicotine patch?) away now, it'll hurt less. Plus doing my homework would probably be more productive.

Gee Nez, couldn't you have waited another month? We don't get to vote in the primary here until June 1. On the other hand, if the Democratic Party can just cut the potato sack race short and get it over with now somehow, that's OK too.
Please remember to vote in the general, however. Just pick the one you feel will do the least harm. That makes the decision easier I think. I don't get to vote for Pres. in November, the primary is my only franchise.
On the other hand, I can't wait to hear people like Dobbs and Rush howl and scream when they realize that Puerto Ricans are determining who gets a large number of delegates. Or maybe that will set Rush "Chaos" Limbaugh to cackling. He may love the concept. I tend to think he would.
The whole Dem Primary thing has become so Greek Tragedy with a shmear of Marx Brothers that I do understand the fatigue.
The Presidential election primary and general seasons {which now appear to be perpetual} are tremendously wasteful, mind numbing, and counterproductive to the wellbeing of the electorate, never mind what the experience does to the stamina and patience of the poor candidates. No wonder zombies have been winning.
Yet, I will continue to follow the knock down drag out because 'my name is RC and I am a political junkie' as they say at those 12 steps meetings. I admire your newfound sobriety, Nez.

Nezua, just like you pointed out, none of the candidates mean much of a difference, with the status quo. The entire system is badly defected with corruption by the special interests. The alternative I've found for myself is former Sen. Gravel. He released the Pentagon Papers and filibustered for the end of the Draft. Central to his candidacy is the National Initiative that will enable citizens to have law making powers. He spent 10 years crafting this bill. I see no other way out of the corporate bind that we are held fast. Please check
Gravel2008.us. Gravel's 2008 campaign will go down in history as one of the most unique and original campaigns ever ! I hope you will be convinced enough with the merits of my man and hopefully your confidence in humanity will be restored.D

If nothing else, Gravel actually looks like he's been having some fun with the election season. Saw a YouTube video where he's reworking the old Beatles song "Helter Skelter." With all the warmongering, racism, and all the other b.s. this year's "most important election ever in the history of the universe, ever", someone coming at it from completely out of the box is a good thing.
Peace and love, y'all.

It's kinda purifying, isn't it? That's how I felt after Nancy Pelosi announced that impeachment was "off the table." I'm fired up for Obama but I wonder how long I can sustain it, especially if I follow the campaign too closely.
And people wonder why I mostly blog about lettuce.
